Egypt and Indonesia are Muslim countries. You think they're ok with women walking around topless?

keep in mind they weren't always Muslim countries. women often went topless in India prior to the Islamic conquests. Muslim prudery even filtered down to Hindus.

Public nudity was also common in Japan for the lower classes until the Meiji Restoration when the government cracked down on it. However the real change was during the post-WWII occupation when MacArthur made the Japanese wear Western clothing and underwear. Prior to that time men wore the traditional sarong while women generally went commando.

Yes. Look at any picture of the Zulu Wars (or African tribal people today) generally people wear less clothing in warm climates for obvious reasons.

That's interesting because Japan actually has winter (particularly in Hokkaido) so it's not an exclusively tropical phenomenon.

Muslim countries with super hot climates made women completely cover up with niqabs

Islam developed in a dry desert. And to protect yourself from the sun you had to cover up, which also included the men. And when islam spread, the practice spread. In the tropics, it gets very sweaty so it was practical to not wear anything as long as your not directly in the sun for too long.

deserts also get cold at night. the tropics are humid and Japan although not tropical is also quite humid and outside Hokkaido the winters aren't especially cold, they're like winter in Western Europe.

I think the practice of covering up your women in europe came from the proto indo europeans. In the mediterranean it was also hot and humid but their women did not go around topless. Unless they were slaves.

The Greeks were very prudish about women, they were almost like Muslims. While male nudity was accepted and often encouraged, women were treated with contempt and to be covered up and concealed.

semi-related but westerners introducing native Brazilian tribes to underwear is incredibly awful. Modern underwear ruins the whole aesthetic.
