You had secular (Roman) and hostile sources (Judaism) has sources, on top of standard narrative. What more do you want?

There are no Roman sources that describe Jesus that weren't forgeries already disregarded by the Catholic Church itself.

Except that those sources(when they don't turn out to be forgeries) are saying that a group called christian existed, not that Jesus existed

        >Roman historians Pliny and Tacitus are forgeries.

The sections that talk about Christ were, absolutely. Not even the church denies that.

          >pliny and tacitus provide evidence of jesus
itt: christard is not very smart and cannot distinguish between evidence for the existence of jesus vs. almost a century later evidence for the existence of christards.

        This.
        >muh Tacitus
Was he there? Did he see Jesus firsthand? Or even any of the apostles? Not likely. He's just taking Christians' word for it when they say they're followers of the man Jesus. I mean, I think he's justified in taking their word for it; I also do. But accounts like that don't give us any additional evidence for Jesus's existence that we didn't have from the New Testament.

All Tacitus did was repeat what Christians were saying they believed, which was the gospel story, which by the time of his writing of Annals was already in circulation among Christians. He also probably got this info from Pliny, because as per Pliny's investigations, basically NO ONE knew wtf Christians believed since their cult had shrunk to almost nonexistence.

The evidences are the martyred apostles. It makes no sense why'd anyone willing to be a martyr for a nonexistent person.

How do you know they were actually martyred?

because their contemporary followers are also willing to be martyrs. It makes no sense why'd people are willing to be martyrs for someone who aren't willing to be a martyr himself.

Yeah religious fanatics are fricking stupid and crazy. Their behavior doesn't make sense, that's the whole shtick of them.

Not when people are willing to endure endless torture to their demise. No they're different from the instadeath of suicide bombing.

then give example that proves the sufferings of countless martyrs are actually the 'norms' of other 'religious fanatics'.

Historicity is about the same; we know there was a folk-saint bordering on culture-hero like the Buddha like there was one about Jesus Christ. There's better records of followers of Christ about 20 to 30 years after he died tho.

Considering that the first texts on Jesus are full of highly miraculous events and stories of him flying through space and appearing in visions to people, and the earliest texts on Buddha are quite mundane by comparison, I think that Buddha is more likely to have been a historical guy.
