Surely you mean to say that it's Christmas for SOME of the Orthodox?

For the True Orthodox, not necessarily for ecumenists. The Julian calendar is the only true calendar. Gregorianism, including the use of the Revised Julian, is heterodox.

On the contrary the ecumenists have separated themselves from the holy Orthodox Catholic faith, they have openly endorsed communion with the Roman Pope and have adopted Protestantized tendencies, they have abandoned the faith of the holy Fathers, their calendar is an abomination that promotes ecumenism,

The true faith is defined by Rome, not anyone else imo. No unshakable leadership, no Great Church, no Ecumenical Councils without Rome.

All bishops are successors to Peter.

In the Bible there is one Peter and all the other apostles are distinct persons. Leadership can’t bifurcate into a cluster of competing leaders, that defeats the purpose of there being one leader.

If you believe in apostolic succession, then you believe it’s impossible for Rome to fall. “Satan has desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail” (Luke 22:31-32)

Still doesn't change that Rome moved.

The Empire may have moved but the resting places of Peter and Paul are in Old Rome. God’s divine investiture in Rome never depended on its imperial status. You are basically saying that Babylon moved from Rome to Constantinople as far as I am concerned. good luck with that.

            >Old Rome
So, It is a husk of itself that claimed to be Rome. I don't claim my old house was still my house after I had moved. But hey, now that Rome fell in 1453. So I guess you can say the Vatican scrounged up what it could to legitimize itself as the HRE.

That’s a great question. You know, sometimes I’ve wondered if the departure of the Catholic Church is supposed to be for us like the departure of the bridegroom. ‘Jesus said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.”’ (Luke 5:34-35) This is the argument that says: it’s late in the age, the pre-eminent church (Rome) has fallen because of our sins, we should repent and fast.

Honestly I just find this perspective too depressing. The church is the bride—she is not supposed to fall, she is given grace. It’s good news. That’s true faith.

Btw, the Ukrainians celebrated Christmas a couple of weeks ago; hopefully it's an omen of a future unity between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Catholic Church (who is in full communion with the Holy See).

Why the See of Rome; the Petrine See; the Government of Vatican City, whose head of State is the successor of St.Peter, known as Pope (which is Pope Francis I, since 2013). 😀

Shame that such beautiful traditions have to be celebrated out of sync with the rest of the religious and astronomical communities.
