Yeah if you're 20 and confused you might think that seeking power as its own end is a good idea, I agree. Anyone above 25 has I hope moved over to more serious readings.

I'm more of a fan of the wildly popular "The Secret" myself. Jordan Peterson and Alchemy helped me more than anything tbpauh

Seeking power should be the primary goal because you use it for everything else. In fact you can't even do anything without power.

if power is the primary, then you're not pursuing it for its utility to other things--you already established that it's a primary. good job fricking up your only premise, idiot. you immediately contradicted yourself.

anyway, i'm seconding what the other anon says: read an actually good book.

No that's pleasure, just like sex. Pleasure doesn't make you happy.
Happiness is the awareness of the true nature of the world and the death of the ego.

there is diminishing returns to this feeling, after some point its just a loss.
i would try to get leverage by getting an education, specialization, and moving to smaller or more remote areas/companies/sectors where its harder to find people.
life will feel less like a hellish chimpanzee colony that way. u should aim for greater degrees of autonomy or actually look to build a competitive goods or services.
i know this is getting harder as time goes on, but its still worth a shot.
while this book has utility as a history or what not to do in certain situations or dealing with political actors, if you follow it in full it will turn you into a weasel or pseudo murderer. to that end its just stupid. theres no reason to keep a copy around.

i hope your treating this book like fiction otherwise you're brainwashing yourself into someone else's way of thinking rather than discovering some hidden fundamental law of human nature and where would the power be in that

      >yup, thats a demon
anyways u will probably learn much better and more realistic strategies for managing power and negotiation and how to do so in a more ethical manner by playing something like Diplomacy than read this book. This will just teach you to be a moron shithead with other moron shitheads and waste time dumbly fricking each other over gaining "influence" and just generally being miserable.
      >board game, controlled environment, u are not puting peoples livelihoods at stake in a moronic manner
      >actually practicing negotiating with real humans and gaining political influence
      >high end players do not play for the sake of backstabbing and lying constantly, honesty is very effective if u are going to play repeat games with people.
      >very realistic simulation emotionally, will teach you how to manage loss and risk
      >dont play with friends or loved ones

The book was based on observations. Use it to protect yourself.

I think this is where the book's chief utility comes from. For people that don't care about power games and politics and manipulation for manipulation's sake. It's useful for spotting those behaviors from others, and then using some rules to get yourself in a situation where you're not at risk.

Also, the book has pretty banger nonfiction recommendations in its examples. I've gone on to read books it quoted from, like Romance of the Three Kingdoms and The Autobiography of Yellow Kid Weil.

another problem with autonomy gained through influence is that its not really autonomy at all. it depends on the opinions of the people your trying to control. life like this is constant worry, chaos, strife, anxiety, warfare, predation.
