Just went to Church for the first time

It was an small event.
Holy frick.
It had free pizza and food everyone brought.
Everyone socialized.
And people there were like, glowing.
They all looked happier and more purposeful than the average Joe. And kinder to each other.
I don't buy into all of it, but man such an organization would be so nice to be in.

Is it not miraculous that ordinary selfish gluttonous people would share their pizza due to their faith in God? It is like expecting wolves to share their kill.

I am not trying to say this behavior has anything to do with the validity of Christianity or not, but a question for regular church goers: what the frick was with this shit, you could set a clock to it

can you go into more detail? I caught hints of this when I was there but don't have enough data to reach a conclusion. Were all their smiles and kindness fake?

Isn't it obvious? There is a public perception that christianity is about charity and such, so people who're interested in promoting their public image are naturally drawn to groups where they get to claim to be christian.

In Christ's time on the earth they were called pharisees; in our time they're usually Evangelicals.

*Way* too much credit here. At least the Pharisees sat in the seat of Moses.

Maybe they're super polite and respectful at church so afterwards they let off some steam by being rude? They no longer need to be so fake and insincere after church meetings

We need to recrate fraternal orders. We still have stuff like the Freemasons but these days they are just a bunch of rich boomers larping. Until the '50s most people in the US were members of some kind of fraternal order, the primary goal of which was to socialize and provide mutual aid.

This. I'm looking into the Oddfellows, are they cool?

The average age is even higher than among the Freemasons. Most of the orders that are still around are made of old people trying to keep the tradition alive. It would be better to just build new ones from scratch with new cultures.

My experience has been different in orthodox churches (not a westoid)
It's full of hot young mothers in their early 30s, like ho-lee shit, every woman here is a young hot mom with a shitty screeching kid and a soi bearded eyeglass husband who works as a programmer. It's the quintessential orthodox family in 2024

Religion might be ultimately nonsense but the social organization it attaches itself to is not.
