Open your eyes and look around. Nobody gives a shit about art. Nobody is making serious art. Nobody cares. Bookstores are nothing but smut in broken English. The cultural touchstones of today made and forgotten in seconds instead of being labors of years. It's not "every generation thinks like this". It's not okay. It's over.

Have seen works of Art that are beyond everything, theatre too, also music. But you will never see them or hear them while looking at the death mask called media. It's suppressed and fogged. Give thanks to money, political interest and the western caste system just to name a few.

Let's focus on literature in particular and begin with one of many causes: there is an absence of institutionalized cliques with artistic goals which are the drivers and gatekeepers of culture. These have existed perpetually in various forms as long as literature has been culturally relevant.

            Anonymous

            >there is an absence of institutionalized cliques with artistic goals which are the drivers and gatekeepers of culture
You mean artistic movements? Those still exist. You guys would have hated all those little magazines and manifestos that came out in the early 20th century. If you actually read them and don't just read about them, you see that they're basically just zines. Half-baked, pompous. Only in retrospect do they seem important, and again, most people just read ABOUT them. No one actually wants to read the Futurist or Surrealist manifestos, or Wyndham Lewis' BLAST magazine. It's only when these movements are viewed as a whole, with the best works taken as representative and the rest forgotten, that you can honestly say that things were better 100 years ago.

            Anonymous

yeah those movements had quite cringe aspects to them and cult/cult leaders dynamics but now it's all pozzed shit and to be an artist in a movement today is basically submitting to a monoculture of Rainbow gender clownery, white hate, open air witchcraft, disfigurement of beauty and subservience to the global satanic pedophile elite.

well I didn't blame the israelites directly so uhm I feel it's still not, not 100% at least

            >disfigurement of beauty
People said this exact thing about modernism. The others are more timely but the early 20th century had its own cultural boogymen that filled the same role.

Well the main difference was there there were at least two different boogeymen, in very simplistic terms Communism and Fascism, that spew from the previous big boogeyman of industrialization. But still, in a visual analogy two colours can still produce a range of tones and values.
One colour doesn't produce anything but a repetition of itself, and the current state of culture (and art became a rather subdued subgenre of culture) is to simply cancel all the other colours.
Hitler at least held an exhibition of degenerate art, that interestingly had quite an unexpected success, now I can't even imagine an exhibition of racist-transphobic-white supremacist-whatever art. Not even in a spirit of mockery, that's how hysterical and bitter and hateful is the current climate of corporate domination wanting to bypass democracy.

The 20th century was the beginning of this phase of the end. Eliot is the only modernist worth reading and he gave up on modernism because the post WW1 environment poisons anything born of it.

Something that has remained constant even when contemporary art struggled: the earnest appreciation and study of the classics, is dying out with acedemia being opened too wide- invaded and decayed. This is the surest sign.

We are objectively in the worst generation of video games right now. Barely any games are coming out compared to the past and when they do they’re often a bloated mess. Companies like Microsoft are doing so bad they might stop making video game consoles entirely.

The point is video games shouldn't even be in this conversation because they're for moronic manchildren and not art.

I chose not to care about your point because its a shit take. To get on my old man yells at cloud soapbox: I fricking hate the trend of movie recaps that go “A MAN TRAVELED BACK IN TIME AND MADE A CHILD WITH A WOMAN BUT SHE WAS HUNTED BY A ROBOT WHO ALSO CAME FROM THE FUTURE. THE MAN WENT IN NAKED BECAUSE THE TIME MACHINE COULDN’T HANDLE CLOTHES. THE ROBOT HAD HUMAN FLESH ON IT. THE MAN GOT STOPPED BY THE POLICE WHO DIDN’T BELIEVE HIS STORY”. I’m so fricking assblasted by this shit it’s insane. Why are they doing it? Who watches it? It’s not a review, it’s a terrible recap, it’s always presented like it’s a novel narrative being told as it happens but in the most GRUG MAKE MOBIE language imaginable.
    What the frick man?
Is this where literature is headed?
A MAN CHASES A WHITE FISH WHO HE HATES. HIS BOAT IS DAMAGED BUT HE WON’T STOP HUNTING THE FISH. HE TAKES A SPEAR AND STABS THE FISH MANY TIMES. IT KNOCKS HIM IN THE WATER.
