It used to be a linuxchad board thoughbeit, then I don't know what happened that caused this influx of itoddlers.

It's been like this for years.
Also those linux users used to call themselves "men" instead of "women" as they have come to call themselves today.

I was simply commenting on the natural progression of Linux user culture over the years. I don't see how you managed to gaslight yourself into thinking I am in any way implying appleshit is not garbage.

the whole concept is wrong. see picrel. see Name and it's highlighted. this should be Tag(s) instead of Name with Name being optional and auto randomly filled as it's irrelevant. the idea is you click save image and you're asked to input tags right then and there so now you can easily find it among the shitload of images you have already. this is what's needed. not a stupid thumbnail gallery.

            Anonymous

i agree tbh. sadly the mainline file managers have piss poor tag support (and some don't have it at all)

            >are there ANY other options for filepickers
            Just don't use Gnome.

i use MATE so i'm stuck with the gtk file manager for now.

There's dudemanguy's GTK fork. I was able to hack it into Debian by building from source and relinking the libraries, I might write a script to automate it one day.

Nah, doing it lazily is much more efficient, specially on older machines without an SSD.

How is OP not banned for this blatant spam jesus christ
This is the second thread of this kind this week

  8. 6 days ago

I'm less pissed about these threads for the linux/windows slander and apple shilling, it's moreso the fact that he's abusing the filename to insert these threads into the catalog search results for literally every general on the board.
The fact that he's not banned yet makes me think OP is actually a mod abusing his power.
...Though if that were true he'd have banned folks like me for calling his ass out.

      You dont need that feature

  11. 6 days ago

It really is an indictment of Linux that in 2024 if you boot your average Linux installation and open the web browser, its file picker will not have thumbnails.

It's a hobbyist OS for tinkerers, who will prioritize absolutely anything over common sense ease of use additions.
