Malding about Mormons

One thing I've noticed is that everybody seems to love to do is mald about Mormons. Catholics, Protestants, atheists, everybody. Yet really, their ideas don't seem to be any more ridiculous than mainline Christianity, especially Catholicism. So what gives? What makes these people so much easier to hate?

It's simply because they aren't Christian, but on top of that they are perverting Christian doctrine. So atheists may dislike Christians, but both Christians and atheists dislike Mormons. Basically, that's it.

Yeah it seems like they do the muh Jesus thing but they also have spookier temple rituals that give me a sort of neognostic vibe. They're definitely not Nicene Christians but I'm reluctant to say they aren't Christians at all simply by dint of how much they worship Jesus

It's weird that they have both a temple and a church.

          temple is for ceremonies
          1. baptism for the dead: where they get baptized on behalf of dead people who weren't mormon, so they can have a chance to accept mormonism in the afterlife.

          2. Endowment: where they learn the secret handshakes to get into heaven and watch a weird movie about creation of the world and adam and eve.

          3. Temple Marriage: basically just a wedding ceremony in masonic setting.

Hard pass on Mormonism. If I wanted to join a wacky sci-fi cult I'd join Scientology.

I spent about half of my life in Utah and Mormon culture played some pretty big roles in the unpleasant experience from start to finish.
People were told by their parents they couldn't date until they were 18. A lot of people didn't give a frick and did it anyway, but its impacts were still observable. Divorce rates were through the roof because people would get married straight out of high school to complete strangers so they could have sex. Most of the people I knew had divorced parents. Most of them also had double-digit amount of siblings.
Nobody knew what the frick they believed in. I went to church with friends a few times just to see what was up and people were actually discouraged from reading their doctrine (Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, Doctrine of Covenants) because they needed "proper guidance from the holy spirit" when interpreting the texts. Things were also subject to change at any point due to redactions by their living profit.
One time, against my mother's wishes, I answered the door when some missionaries showed up. They asked me to come to the church and talk about Mormonism with them. I've always been pretty open-minded, so I gave it a chance. The next day while I was on a run, everybody in a 5 mile radius was addressing me by name. Total strangers who I'd never talked to a day in my life and passed by on my runs for years.

I really doubt that the divorce rates are higher than the rest of America. Mormons are known for having generally good sexual hygiene, and people who have sex with more strangers also get divorced more.

They're on the higher end (top 10). I'd also challenge the idea that they have good sexual hygiene. Anecdotally, they don't tend to have higher body counts. But attitudes towards sex are extremely unhealthy and lead to long-term problems. Pretty much every I know from there got married to someone they knew for less than a year. Sex education was straight up archaic and didn't really teach anything besides abstinence. Mormon girls were pretty easy to corrupt and commonly preyed upon when I went to uni.
        >people who have sex with more strangers also get divorced more
they were, for all intents and purposes, having sex with strangers. It doesn't matter if you have a marriage certificate if you don't even know your partner's favorite food.

          >Pretty much every I know from there got married to someone they knew for less than a year
That's not necessarily a problem. The longer people date, the more potential there is for sexual misconduct. And obviously, as soon as a man has sex with a girl, he no longer has a reason to marry her. So then he just does that two or three times and ends up having a bad opinion of women, cos he just assume they're all dumb prostitutes.
          >It doesn't matter if you have a marriage certificate if you don't even know your partner's favorite food.
Seriously? How long do you think it takes to get to know bullcrap information like that. I could ask you that right now dude. It's silly, what you are saying.
As for the abstinence-only education thing, it's designed to prevent poverty and instability. If you have a bunch of bastards running around being provided for by the welfare state, they're gonna be poor and more violent. More single parents homes, etc. The only thing "safe sex" education has done is brought us to a point where 40% of all children in America are illegitimate; so much for preventing pregnancy I guess.

is that why the states that rely on abstinence only have far higher rates of teenage pregnancies, I know this is scary to you but teens aren't exactly not going to frick just because you said not to

Why is it that people started having more children out of wedlock after condoms became widely available, but not before? Riddle me that.

I'm not saying America as a whole is much better. The key difference, in my experience, is the mass acceptance of delusions. Utah faces familiar problems with unique foundations. There are issues with drug abuse, single parent homes, poverty, etc. Utah, unlike other states, doesn't have institutional poverty to blame it on. They have the lowest amount of racial diversity in the country.

any sex story that involves mormons ends up being the most bizarre shit you ever hear, like all those mormons who try to justify sex by stating it doesn't count because a third party was moving them up and down

What other religions require certain garments be adorned while having sex?

Don't know or care. The point of sacred vestments is ritual participation and spiritual framing, the clothes themselves aren't the point. The point is that you're actively representing a particular spiritual devotion. Brown scapulars and yarmulkes aren't that different even if there's radically different use case scenarios to both. Same with war bonnets and bindis

Certain sects of Judaism and various forms of Protestantism. Sikhs are required to have certain articles of clothing on at all times, including when having sex, as are Brahmins.

          >Idk they seem to be futureproofing well
They're 20 years behind the rest of Christianity, they aren't future proofing at all.

Smaller denominations of Sikhism have more specific requirements (more garments or less lax about taking things off).

They're a twilight religion of older traditions, but most importantly a proper American Religion. A transhumanist Mormonism is the religion of the future (for Americans) as it represents what they believe in the best.

Well you see buddy those ridiculous ideas of flesh-bread, three things that are simultaneously one and spontaneous conception are thousands of years old.

They are new and haven't yet conquered or subjugated anything powerful enough to prevent themselves from being made fun of.

You're lying because you want to take a muh persecution angle. No one really minds them between the general public and religious e-celebs. They keep a tidy public image, but also have silly masonic rituals & beliefs that make closer inspection easily dismiss the thing. Outside of a very autistic minority (usually ex-mormons), no one cares.

For the record though I view them all as equally worthless, I dont pick on Mormonism specifically
