Man with bad luck on Tinder creates dating app featuring only himself

Aaron Smith, like many other men, didn't get many swipes on Tinder. He saw a fundamental problem with dating apps: they have competition.

“The biggest problem with the other apps is that my face is not featured prominently," Smith told WFMY-TV.

Smith sought out the help of his friend and software engineer Scott McDowell, who sympathized with Smith's dating app woes.

“All of us who have done online dating in some sorta way can all relate to the fact that it really does sometimes suck," McDowell said.

Together, Smith and McDowell created a dating app that would give Smith the best chances at getting laid: a dating app that featured no other men.

Singularity is Smith's mobile-only browser app that you can access at singularitydating.com.

Smith's app gives you a convenient log-in method by allowing you to enter your Social Security Number. Unfortunately, the SSN log-in feature currently doesn't work.

Upon entering the app, you'll be greeted with several mediocre options for matching. They're all different pictures of Smith, after all.

As Smith explained, his dating app is kind of like a lemonade stand.

“If life gives you lemons, you should first make lemonade," Smith said. "Then make sure no other companies can produce or distribute their own soft drinks. So the only game in town is lemonade.”

This whole thing might seem crazy, but guys have done crazier things in an attempt to get laid.

Think about all of those ridiculous "prom proposal" stories that pop up every year without fail.

Like that one 18-year-old student who was rejected by his classmate in front of 2,000 people at a sporting event in 2015.

And in 2017, a guy by the name of Nathaniel Rifkin created a public online dating resume that was widely mocked as "cringeworthy" by media outlets and online commentators alike.

Rifkin made sure to publicize himself as a snobby, insufferable contrarian with remarks like: "I abhor the stuff 95% of the population obsesses over!"

And there's that time John Hinckley Jr. tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan, not for political reasons, but because he thought it would get him a date with actress Jodie Foster, who was 19 at the time.

"Jodie, I'm asking you to please look into your heart and at least give me the chance with this historical deed to gain your respect and love," Hinckley Jr. wrote in a letter to Foster.

It's either dedication or madness, but some men will stop at nothing to get that first date.
