Marcus Aurelius adopted Stoicism as a form of cope.

Marcus Aurelius adopted Stoicism as a form of cope. His wife was constantly cheating on him with various senators and gladiators. There is nothing good about Stoicism, it's basically Defeatism and accepting your role as a slave.

    >Nooo you have to care
Lmao. As Seneca said the role of stoicism w.r.t other philosophies is the same as with men and women, the other is created to rule while the other submits

You have to care if you want to achieve anything and force the world to do your bidding, yes.

Pretty much. His wife was a prostitute, his son a degenerate failure, and meanwhile he was getting his bussy busted by Markomanni chads on the front for years without end. He had no chance tbh.

Bait of course, but there's people who actually think this, and I've never been able to find out why, given that the whole point of Stoicism is to be active, not passive.

Especially when the man was a Roman emporer with many military successes under his belt. Ruling over a larger swathe of land and peoples than most people in history.

The only thing I can figure is that they don't understand stoicism and only know the meme take. Stoicism is absolutely not about coping with things sucking. It's about acknowledging things suck as objectively as possible and using that new objective understanding to do something about it. In stoicism it even admits that you should experience your emotions and that's okay, just don't let them control you.

The man was a roman emperor for fricks sake, do you really think his entire philosophy was "oh that sucks, better emotionally withdraw". Silly people

Basically every philosophy and religion is a form of cope. That has nothing to do with whether it's true.

Stoicism is just the Roman expression of the Aryan warrior spirit.

The moron also designated his son Commodus to be his heir, ruining the appointed emperorship which had kept the Empire stable for decades.
