Is the idea that more surface area = less resistance = better signal?

          >Is the idea that more surface area = less resistance = better signal?
No it's used for balanced headphones or iems, 3.5mm the L- and R- share the same pin

            Anonymous

There are TRRS 3.5mm plugs and sockets with separate contacts for R- and L-, but the scheme didn't catch on as far as I know, and 2.5mm TRRS is in decline. 4.4mm is what nearly all audiophool designers have swung to.

No balanced output, low and slow storage, bad software support on Zune(MS likes to pretend it never happened), parts are becoming harder to source due to supplies drying up, weaker decoding requiring specialized codecs for higher bitrate files to play nice, the list sadly goes on. I've got 3 zunes, I've always loved the design, they're shockingly punchy in terms of power and were built to last, and the software was head and shoulders above iTunes relatively clunky design, but they're basically only kept alive through a small hardcore fanbase and occasional media appearances like GOTG.

the large one is for balanced output. you can do that on other size jacks too, i don't know why they went for 4.4 instead of 2.5.

      >4.4mm
what in the shit is that? never seen headphones in that format

it's what every single piece of audio equipment used before 3.5mm was a thing, and still widely used for non-consumer audio. on a portable player it's a weird choice, but there's a shit ton of headphones in 4.4, and in fact most headphones come with an adapter to make the mini jack into a full size jack.

      >Lineage
If someone ports Lineage to this then I'm sold. Afaik it already runs stock Android, so I guess you could also use a script or something similar to delete default gapps. From my experience, Google Services drains a lot of battery (compared to a degoogled phone).

It seems like the device for me honestly, I don’t want a flagship phone, but I don’t want a super basic phone. It’s cheap and music oriented.

A pricier Lava Blaze Curve. Probably due to the audio related components and microsd slot. A bit more expensive than a brand new 6/128 variant of an Xperia 10 V with inferior chip.
At any rate, one of the few choices available to jack+microsd fans that isn't a budget trash from Xiaomeme or Samshit.

The problem is that it doesn't actually compete with phones, which makes it hard to place. Its an Android DAP with a modem, not a phone with an emphasis on audio (i.e. old LG V-series). I'm sure it'll score well as a DAP, but don't expect much on the software front as a phone. Software support in particular is going to be nonexistent, just look at the state of the Moondrop Link app for connecting their TWS. The Sparks and Alice are great sounding TWS, but they have no shot of competing with the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, or Airpods Pro 2, or even something like the OPPO Enso because they only excel at being earphones and not being TWS

Being a good wired earphone just involve having good audio quality, seal, comfort, etc.... Even things like cables can be swapped out. Being a good TWS need other things like seamless transition between 1/2 buds mode, between codec, tap control usability, etc... on top of that. Something like the Pixel Buds is good at being a TWS but the audio is trash, whereas Moondrop just made it a good earphone but phoned in the firmware.

you should not be surprised to hear this but the software is also provided by whoever manufactures the soc, i.e. space travels behaves just like any other tws by qualcomm
so in other words, moondrop's are as competent as anyone else's

this anon is right. It could be and probably will be shitty daily driver. I dont see it winning over pmp or Xperia/LG Vs as audiophiles phone.

Design is kind of gay if I'm being honest. Looks like it was made by some millennial with San Francisco sensibilities.

I'm going to use this now to describe sci-fi anime in front of f/a/ggots

No mention of a fingerprint sensor, please tell me it has one because if it doesn't that is laughably moronic. Also curved edges, yuck no thanks.

i want so badly to order it. i dont care at all about the cam specs, cause im not the guy that posts on instagram or any other social media trash but i care alot about music

Also the design of this moonphone is unique,i dont know i fell into it. man im tired of the same fricking design that every fricking brand tries to sell and turned us into these idiot gsmarena guys in forums typing: 1)i like the x,y,z phone cause it has a very good camera its better than my previous phone and a second guy responds 2)yes but the ratio is 60hz instead of 120hz so im gonna buy the t phone

As of the chinese thing i have to say that everything is manufactured in china. even nokia which is a finnish company send their phones to china

the 2 things that kept me away from ordering it is
      a) i dont think there will be any english manual in the box
      b) i dont know anything about the apps or how many are in this android os. for example i dont want any baidu app on my phone
