yeah obviously. Normies like it a ton because the japanese have a keen sense of beauty and are good at mass-producing catchy dopamine sparking pop culture. they're also disciplined, courteous and hygenic people, so good for them.
But they're massively overrated for anybody able to look underneath the surface of anything. the Japanese mind lacks political imagination. Way more of Japanese culture was copy-pasted from China, Korea and the US than they'd ever enjoy admitting freely.

Personally, what irks me about them and their popularity is that Japanese just aren't very profound thinkers. All their mental/physical energy goes into everyday manners, overworking at their stressy office jobs as other Asiatics, exportable pop culture minor arts and not much else. They're reasonable, clean, polite and reasonable people, but just not truly philosophical, wise or flexible in thought in any significant manner.
One could argue that the most significant and unique cultural development Japan ever came up with prior to Meiji is Zen Buddhism. Impressive, but not awe-inspiring. Japan has never produced any massive influences on Asian philosophy or thought. Their power lies in adapting then beautifying whatever they instinctively think will improve/strengthen Japan, not so much being truly original.
I don't want to call them "childish" per se, but it really is incredible just how shallow and unimaginative the thought process of many white-collar Japanese are if you try talking to them in depth, as i have. there's less underneath the surface of the Japanese sense of face than almost any other population on earth. Just... shallow people. I enjoyed talking to Turks, Koreans and even English Norf FC boomers far more when i traveled around.

I think we've lost enough large mammals to wu-shu nonsense about tiger testicles or rhino horns and their miraculous ability to make asian dicks larger without the japs trying their hand at it 2bh

      >the Japanese aren't really...le philosophical
Oh shut the frick up, just because they don't have the same pessimistic/legalistic/existentialist flavor of philosophy as we Europeans do and aren't likely to write 10 volumes about the nature of peepeepoopoo or some other conceited act of academic masturbation, it doesn't mean the Japanese aren't capable of being profound people. Jesus Christ just look at the fruits of our culture today. Do you really think our society is significantly more profound than those of the Japanese. The shallowness of literally everything is an epidemic, not a disease specific to one race.

Yes it does lol. That’s literally the definition of profoundity I’m going off of.
        >Do you really think our society is significantly more profound than those of the Japanese
Not exactly, but it is more mentally flexible. The fact that western countries have insane fentanyl laced homeless people and tent cities would be an indication of that as much as having more political imagination.

Blow your brains out weeb. You’re a dime a dozen.

        >They're just having the "le simplistic yet refined" aesthetic autism that happens to be in line with the current post-modern international aesthetics
Except that's not really true. Most Japanese aesthetics, both traditional and modern, do not follow nor give a frick about being simplistic despite what certain kinds of articles on the internet want you to believe. There's a lot of sensationalist, generalizing, misleading, outright false, or grasping-at-straws kind of articles about "Japanese" on the internet that are incredibly incongruent with reality. Delusions that can be very quickly dispelled if you actually visit the country, interact with Japs, or familiarize yourself more with actual Japanese culture, media, and aesthetics.

They could conquer Korea if it weren't Ming reinforcements.
Don't forget Ming aiding Korea eventually resulted in Manchu conquering Han aka Qing dynasty.

And they could conquer Korea for like 30 years.

True. China deserves way more to represent Asia. ("Communism" is a word with too much baggage to look at the situation accurately). China still way more Christian and is one of the most Christian nations in the world. China about to go through Trajan years. Bullish. Anime been dead for a good while. Normgroids need a gateway somehow. More hours on your shift cuz I need that Elden Ring DLC. Chop chop. I said chop chop. Back in the cagie NOW.

Sometimes I feel like Japan is a country that spedran its way from the Stone Age during the Jomon period to the Space Age in only 2000 years, and that everything about modern Japan is just a desperate attempt to keep up a cargo cult of Western technological and cultural modernity. Japan never had thinkers like Socrates, Parmenides, or Heraclitus. Atheistic Buddhism was thrust upon a pre-literate Japan that had only an animistic notion of deities and religion. Japanese art did experience some evolution throughout the nearly 2 millennia of Chinese influence, but it was at best comparable to the evolution of Greek art during its Orientalizing period.
Although some people might speak of proto-industrial developments in Edo period Japan, they never gave rise to any intellectual developments comparable to the ones in the Abbasid Caliphate or Late Medieval Europe. At most, they gave rise to manzai comedy and Japanese street foor items, but nothing more. Pre-Meiji Japan had no William of Ockham, no Leonardo da Vinci, and no Francis Bacon Its Rangaku was at best comparable to the Toledo School of Translators, and far behind even the Oxford Calculators.
20th century Japan did have some academic philosophers versed in German critical idealism, like Nishida Kiitarou and Suzuki Daisuke, but then again, they were 20th century academics who wrote about 18th/19th century German philosophy under a Buddhist lens, not exactly unique thinkers to be honest. I will not deny the development of the Japanese heavy industries, but there is an amazing gap between Japanese industrial development and Japanese intellectual development. The greatest accomplishments of Japan seem to be not so much coming up with any unique concepts or leading to the development of truly unique forms of thought, but rather to adapt already existing forms of thinking and elaborating art to their culture and values.
