    Today I updated my mpv (Windows git version) and it stopped playing sound completely. It plays video but pretends to not see that these videos have sound. It also doesn't play audio files anymore but shows cover art. What could be the reason?

        I've downgraded already but wondering just in case. Maybe some config changes would be necessary in near future.

      Anything that requires resampling is broken with newer ffmpeg. It depends on which audio driver you use, also some features like display-resample require resampling.

    I've heard about how some kinds of judder happen when playing 24fps content on 60fps displays. Could using CRU to lower refresh rate to 24 or 48 or overclock to something divisible by 24 address this? Has anyone tried?

      >Could using CRU to lower refresh rate to 24 or 48 or overclock to something divisible by 24 address this?
      yes
      >Has anyone tried?
      yes, i have modelines for 50Hz, 60/1.001Hz, 72/1.001Hz and 72Hz, specifically for playing videos properly, i also have xrandr.lua for mpv to it can automatically switch modes depending on the video being played

      pic related, for smooth playback you need a vsync ratio that is a whole number

    Ever since I rebuilt mpv-git (Arch Linux, XFCE4, X11) on March 3rd I started getting screen tearing on the bottom of the screen. I'm watching 1080p content on a 4k/120hz TV (3090 TI) with these settings:
    profile=gpu-hq
    gpu-context=x11vk
    gpu-api=vulkan
    vulkan-async-compute=yes
    vo=gpu-next
    opengl-pbo
    scale=ewa_lanczos
    cscale=ewa_lanczos
    sub-auto=fuzzy
    vulkan-swap-mode=fifo
    video-sync=display-resample
    tscale=sphinx
    tscale-blur=0.6991556596428412
    blend-subtitles=yes

    I have no idea why video tearing started happening but I am absolutely sure it wasn't happening before because I specifically checked for it recently for unrelated reasons. If I enable hardware video decoding (ctrl+h) then the tearing stops but my understanding is that hardware video decoding can sometimes have inaccurate colors or other issues.
    Any ideas or suggestions welcome. I looked around the github issues and didn't see any open issues with any info. There was one issue that was closed for not following the template (one of the comments there is where I got the hardware video decoding suggestion) but it could be unrelated.

      I forgot to mention that checking the stats with i doesn't seem to show any performance issues when I'm experiencing video tears.

        I don't have the error with --no-config, but it's using like all different settings in that case. I suppose I should manually step through and figure out which setting is causing the issue.

        >-git
        try older commits until you find the first broken one

        I was hoping someone else here had already figured this out. It's such a pain having to rebuild libplacebo-git and ffmpeg-git each time. Looks like my last working build was around Feb 11, so at least I've got a time window to work in.

          make sure to use ccache, it makes repetitive builds faster
