What are some ffmpeg-based video editors that allow you to easily crop videos visually (x,y,width, height)? Tried kdenlive, cropping there is a pain due to fixed video output size and aspect ratio. It's basically worse than just using CLI.

This alone proves that you aren't drinking as much water as you claimed to do. You stay dehydrated and thibk this is normal. Also cut your diet to 3 or 4 smaller meals.

Either your eating and drinking habit is really bad or it's your constant gluing to screen to get that extra dopamin or both. 1 hour shitting session isn't normal

i claimed couple glasses a day, I think that's accurate. but that wouldn't even be half a liter. I'm not sure what in my head is broken but I dont get thirsty and forget. i guess I need some alarms or something.

Yeah I had that too. Never feeling thirsty and unknowingly damaging my kidneys. Had hard time fully clearing my bowel. It wasn't until my own poor eating habits gave me gastric ulcer. That's when I got serious. The alarm method works. I put reminders on my phone to notify me every hour to drink at least 1 full glass of water. Never felt more refreshing and finally started realizing I was always thirsty.

            Start drinking water now anon.

I'm gonna try drinking a lot.

Nobody gets thirsty unless you're severely dehydrated. Why do you think there are all those water bottles indicating how much you should drink? It's normal for it to be a conscious effort.

i dont know some people I know feel thirsty all the time and I dont feel it at all till I get a headache.

This seems a little moronic. I imagine you'd want to keep rotate depending on your monitor configuration or playlist.

The moment that exact sentiment started to become acceptable, was the exact moment many open source projects went to shit.
And it was the exact moment "drama" went from harmless fun to an endless stream of full-on meltdowns.
MPV doesn't have it that bad, as self-serving prostitutes wouldn't have much to gain from forcing themselves into becoming "officials" there.
But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a concerted effort to crush that sentiment as early as possible before the cancer spreads further.

      * If your IP is being A/B tested, or whatever the frick is going on, you would be better off just VPNing instead of TORing, at least speed wise.

Hello anons, can anyone give me the equation to calculate how much K I need to set the bitrate to in order to make an x seconds long video weight y MB? I'm not the best with the units

      Anonymous

      (assuming k = kbits)
From kbit to MiB, divide by /8/1024.
From kbit to MB, divide by /8/1000.
By MB, you probably meant MiB, so use that.
Explanation: A byte is 8 bits. A mega is 1024 kilos (base 2) or 1000 kilos (base 10).

          alternative approach that would work for me is if sub-text/ass had style appended to beginning of overrides, e.g. this is what sub-text/ass returns {an8}I do! I wanna! and here's the same line when converted with ffmpeg to ass {fnLatofs75c&HFAFAFA&b1an8}I do! I wanna!{bfnfsc}

Live streams are usually edge-played by default.
That means the player seeks a few segments (usually 20-60seconds) back from the end of the playlist and starts playing.
          That's actually the correct behavior.
There should be an option to play live streams from the start. Look for it.
I use my own stream grabber, so I don't know it.

Note that I'm not an expert vp9 tuner or anything.

          Save this somewhere:

          ffmpeg -i in.mkv -pix_fmt yuv420p -s 1280x720 -an -c vp9 -rc_mode 1 -crf 44 -cpu-used 1 -aq-mode 2 -tune-content 1 -g 350 -deadline 0 out.webm

You can see the documentation of the options with this command:

          ffmpeg --help encoder=vp9

`-rc_mode 1` sets constant quality mode (this is what trips most users).
`-deadline 0` enables high quality (and slower) encoding.
Increase `-cpu-used` if you want to encode faster.

if you quit mpv while there's subs on screen, mpv redraws the frame but without subs before quitting for some reason

does this matter if you're quitting anyway?

it's a visual annoyance because the subs will flash. its also not consistent so it happens sometimes and doesnt happen other times

Hello does anyone use webm.lua to make webms with mpv for IQfy? Can you post your webm.conf so I can just use that to make my clips for /gif/?

use the archive until you learn to ask better questions

Anyone know what's going on here?
I'm trying to use ffmpeg to make some clips from an anime episode as I've done many times in the past, but for some reason, now it decides to eat literally all my RAM until it either crashes, or my computer freezes (>pic related is htop before I emergency ctrl+c ffmpeg; was at 4GB RAM usage before I started it up).

I'm using a command like this:
      ffmpeg -ss 00:13:58.00 -to 00:14:12.50 -i "input.mkv" -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 4M -crf 10 "output.webm"

The codec doesn't seem to matter, and I'm using Arch (btw) so ffmpeg's been on 6.1.1 since March so it wasn't caused by an update to it specifically (but maybe something else?).
I don't expect much, but I'm wondering if anyone else here has had this issue before.

To add to the strangeness. This is what ffmpeg looks like while it's encoding. Note the extremely small size and bitrate. And the unfinished output files ends up at zero bytes.
So it's not even encoding properly while it eats my RAM.

      >-b:v 4M -crf 10
what are you trying to do here?

      [...]
Did some further testing. It seems that this is being caused by using the seek options -ss and -to. If I just try to encode the entire input video, there isn't a problem, but obviously I want specific clips. Also it only seems to happen to some videos and not others. I can't figure out what determines whether a video will have this issue or not. It doesn't seem to matter what the codec, bitrate or filesize it is.

Am I using seek wrong? I've just been doing what the IQfy wiki suggests and it's been working up until now.

      >the IQfy wiki
      >taking ANYTHING IQfy says at face value
where you place -ss relative to -i matters but i'm almost certain -to always must be after -i

This seems to have fixed it. Thanks.
It looks like what was causing it was some frickery with chapter metadata. So that's why only some videos got affected.

Bitrate and quality stuff. Those numbers I use vary.

          >Bitrate and quality stuff. Those numbers I use vary.
see the ffmpeg wiki link i posted. you typically should only use either or
two pass b:v OR crf, not both
for IQfy it only makes sense using two pass average bitrate and controlling the encoding speed/quality with -deadline and -cpu-used, once again, as mentioned in the wiki

I see. Again, this is just something I got from the IQfy wiki and didn't think too hard about.
I guess I should do some research on ffmpeg's actual wiki.

I use mpv.net on Windows. Why doesn't the "Q" to quit and save work? It works fine when I use normal mpv on Linux and I've checked the hotkey settings and it contains the 'quit-watch-later' command like it should, but still nothing happens when I use it.

Some things are shipped differently between Windows and Linux. For example, wheel updown on Windows skips through the video and on Linux turns vol updown. I advise using mpv.conf and adding save on quit parameter.
