Thank you for your support anon. Makes me feel seen.

I like the cover design. Who's the publisher?

It's by Tikhanov Library. The website's down at the moment but they're still posting on substack:

Oh god, it's you? Just say so in the damn OP instead of pulling this stupid trick every time you come here. Congrats on making a cover that isn't unreadable this time, but that cut job on the figures looks like ass.

And this is just another machine translation, right?

If you had any decency you'd at least show what the insides look like and say how you did it so nobody goes and gets ripped off with shitty print-on-demand bootleg #385. Post the PDF/epub if you're not a complete ass.

        Gently informing, friend.

        It's called shilling.

        [...]
Are you shilling your publishing company again?? >:(

        >publishing company
Don't give him that much credit. All he's done is machine translations of public domain works which he slaps awful covers on and puts up for sale via print-on-demand. A publishing company is not just some schmuck with a laptop. These are dodgy bootlegs.

It's been up for almost a year now. I think all of their books have been available for free download at one time or another.

All the same a lot of time and effort goes into the translation process, so if you want to support buying a physical copy of your own is a great way to do that.

Next time just say you've come here to shill instead of beating around the bush.

I don't know who these Tikhanov fellows are but they seem like pretty cool guys. I heard they're putting out a translation of F.T. Marinetti's Mafarka next month.

La Bas is about Satanism. Gilles is romantic drama and social climbing. Nothing to do with each other.

    > Myriam had performed a miracle for him, the miracle of money. The appearance of money in some lives can be a miracle like that of love: it stirs the imagination and the senses powerfully, at least in the first moment.
Now that the dust has settled, why was he such a gigolo? Guy had no self respect.

Because you'd have to be stupid to pass up an opportunity to escape almost certain death in WWI trench warfare. At the end of the day, for all his talk about war and a glorious death, Gilles would much rather spend his time in salons and prostitute houses. Pierre Drieu la Rochelle had the same basic pathology that Mishima did.

This guy seems somewhat memory-holed. The novel is surprisingly good.

Its crazy how he went from director of the NRF to completely forgotten about. He was a collaborator, so I figured it was some sort of Céline type deal, but I've yet to read any of his work which comes across as genuinely antisemitic andnit actually seems like he used his pull to keep everyone in his circle (including Jean Paul Sartre funnily enough, considering his passionate defesnse of murdering political enemies) from going to a concentration camp or political prison.
