nix is like 27 different groups and communities. you have nix, nixlang, nixos, nixops/deploy-rs, reproducible builds fanatics, the nixos mobile group(seems inactive), some serenityOS troon thats trying to recrete qubesOS with nixos and kvm instead, and a shit ton of other groups youve never heard of, like tvix a russian fork of nix. some troony mods on discourse banning a dude for liking steak is a long ways away from compromising nix

One one of the listed is an OS, the other is a package manager.

Guix is basically Nix without the haskell trannies but instead you deal with LISP troons. So its probably worse. Also no flakes so dead on arrival.

Guix uses Scheme so it's better than learning the json with functions language.
Guix is so autistic about being free as in freedom that they don't care about making it work on real hardware (e.g. non free wireless modules). That's based, but it limits Guix to be a virtual machine OS, whereas I installed NixOS directly on my laptop.

i wish guix wasn't so autistic, i would rather not use nix's shitty language, but guix won't work properly on anyone's machine, has no packages because no one can use it, and i presume is somehow even worse documented than nixos's shitty docs

Guix (as in the OS) is FSF-approved, which means it doesn't ship non-free firmware

You seem not to know capitalize a or use a period. "Sage newbie Larper"
Choosing to ignore grammar by use a (a) instead of (an) is not being able to “spell correctly”
          >can't read
No, you can't read. I said nothing about being off-topic, Like I said… Buy AAAA ad.

all this crap over a company giving foundation money
I keep my dialogue my with these people purely about the software anyway, some have the urge to discuss politics on software forums for some unknown reason

On the plus side, with flakes, Nix can be decentralized. nixpkgs effectively pulls triple duty: a nix stdlib, a set of utilities for creating a NixOS system, and a package repository.

If you were to separate these concerns, and have no default repository, but have the list of packages be some flake input the user sets, you can reduce what the Nix foundation controls to just their implementation of Nix.

Guix is legitimately better designed and a better base technology.
FSF have historically been mega autists but they are at least autistic about free software, and I don't think would have sperged out over a defense contractor like the Nix trannies.
Guix is just waiting for some "Debian-like" to repackage it with non-free options, then it'd be 10/10 frick Nix.
