You could also have a rear sensor that turns around, I think Asus does that on some of their phones, maybe some other companies too

You can thank Zuckerfrick for that. Facetime is the devil. I hate it with every fiber of my being. Now when I am looking at my phone, it's looking right back at me. I flip it off on occasion. Frick you, NSA

You know the only reason they exist is because of the surveillance mafia, how else would banks, exchanges,Facebook ask for a face scan if everyone didn't have one?
Same as how could the likes of riot successfully demand hardward based DRM without MS forcing it as a default.
Every single one of these defaults is for the detriment of the user, had it not been they could reasonably justify why one should purchase additional hardware if it was gonna actually benefit the user and simply not offer the "extra functionality" that depends on it to those without, but that's the entire point, you shouldn't be able to escape from 24/7 surveillance, its for their benefit not yours.

    >Sony’s mobile sales in Japan declined 40% in 2023 and are likely to suffer a similar drop this year, according to IDC analyst Masafumi Inbe. The company hovers around 1 million sales per year in a country with a population of 125 million, where people buy 30 million smartphones every year.

It's too expensive, 21:9 is too niche, and it really needs more years of software updated to it too. Sony has potential, but they need to get it right. When it comes to sleeks smartphones with that classic notch, I still think Razer did it better, still wish they had kept making new releases, but its likely they would've just made it generic aswell.

I don't. The problem is the frequent model releases with the frequent model sunsetting.

I bought my first iPhone (since the 4s) in late 2019 and still haven't replaced it. Will probably have it for 1-2 more years before I buy a new one. Why do you need the yearly spec bump?

Think it's like 3 years for version updates and 5 for security ones but I could be wrong.

They've "promised" something like 7 years of updates on their latest models, but none of them have been out long enough for them to have actually honored it.
I suspect they will be dropped before the 7 years, and there will be a small outrage and a class action lawsuit that gets each person who owns one about $10.

Sony phones are garbage, they do a terrible job of implementing the parts they use into a cohesive whole that functions well. Overheating, shitty screens, mediocre cameras shitty software support, 2 years of security updates. Outside of cameras and b2b industrial shit sony blows at making electronics and has for over a decade at this point.

Sony phones always look good on paper (except for this year with 1080p display) but they are often full of bugs, have shit software support, and they're outrageously overpriced. They'll be joining LG Mobile in the grave soon.

I thought about getting one last year, but the narrow aspect ratio, large height, and price turned me off. Went with a Zenfone 10 on learning that it added in wireless charging and what I really wanted most was the headphone jack so I'm just tolerating the holepunch in the top corner.
Would consider the Xperia again next because I find the Zenfone 10 a bit too narrow a screen, but then Sony went and pulled out of selling in the US entirely...

Feel like I am just running out of options.
Really wish LG did not quit, the LG v35 was my favorite phone and checked all the boxes.
