There’s nothing wholesome about blog-quality ranting about USA and Israel for 200 pages book after book after book.

for being controlled opposition, he sure did write a lot of stuff that caused a whole lot of headaches for the CIA

and im willing to bet that you have not read any of it. In fact, i bet you've not read a single book concerning the subjects Chomsky discusses.

Nothing worse than some dickhead who gives their opinion on political issues constantly but never actually runs for office

His texts on decentralization, autonomism and municapilism are very interesting, but from a French point of view, he seem to be an hypocritical israelite who spit on his host nation every time, criticize everything but never build anything.

And from what a read from some of his student, Chomsky was arrogant as professor and regularly spit on the opinion of people who contradicted him.

Genocide denying poster-child for the "any crime is allowed or denied as long as the perpetrator is anti-american" movement. Prime example of someone with strong opinions about subjects without being formally educated in these disciplines being listened to simply because he is well known for other disciplines. I wouldn't listen to Einstein talking about biology because he was a physicist, I wouldn't listen to Zizek talk about physics because he is a philosopher and I won't listen to Chomsky talking about history or politics because he is a linguist. I'll read his works on linguistics, I'll wipe my ass with his political commentary.

If an anti-american regime committed genocide Chomsky would be the first to defend them and the last to admit to being at fault for doing so, simply because they are anti-american. Oh wait, that actually happened. Twice.

      >Genocide denying poster-child
Pretty funny the people push this smear are so often the same people running defense for Israel's ethnic cleanings (maybe genocide?) in Gaza today. Basically what Chomsky was doing, at his absolute worst, but on steroids.

"Maybe we should be cautious about the death tolls attributed to the Khmer Rouge by its enemies. Let's investigate more and also not forget other similar horrors U.S. approves of selectively doesn't boost attention in the MSM" vs. "All civlian deaths reported by HAMAS are lies. But also if there weren't lies they deserved it."

      > I won't listen to Chomsky talking about history or politics because he is a linguist
Also one of the more hilarious attacks, given how it's so hilariously hypocritical yet no one seems to notice. We should however listen to your political opinions on Chomsky and other things, right anon? Tell me again, what school did you go to to get your PhD on correct political opinions?

Nice implication you got there, for the record I do not defend Israel's conduct in Gaza in the slightest but I guess you had to mention this in an attempt to a priori de-legitimize any critique of Chomsky. As if criticism of him is isolated to just being right-wing Israel-lovers. Most of your garbage post hinges on equating Chomskys critics as unabashed Israel defenders which is just your blatant attempt at dodging the issue at hand and espousing some whataboutism at the same time. There is literally no other reason for you to bring this unrelated topic up other than an attempt to dodge the fact that Chomsky stubbornly both during and for years after the truth of the genocide became world known absolutely refused to acknowledge it as such, both in quantity of death and in quality as an actual genocide. When refugees from the regime told their stories he deliberately tried to sow doubt about their experiences.

        >Also one of the more hilarious attacks, given how it's so hilariously hypocritical yet no one seems to notice. The obvious difference here which I also stated clearly in my post is that people (like you) actually LISTEN to Chomsky regarding politics and form opinions based on it. He is, ironically, manufacturing consent among his sheepish adherents (You). I'm a noboby commenting on a fricking imageboard, my words carry only the weight of my fingers slapping on the keyboard while his are read throughout the world. They are equally qualified (i.e. none) except one carries immense weight, and thus it is valid to critique and scrutinize far more diligently than the other.

Chomsky was good when he was working with linguistics—although Krashen’s theories on language acquisition supersede Chomsky
    Chomsky’s political views are moronic

There are two things I will praise Chomsky for. One is his work on linguistics. The other is his defense of social liberalism and human rights in his debate against Michel Foucault. I don't agree with some of the opinions he's historically taken, like his defense of Misc Pot's Cambodia, but it was difficult to take a proper stance at the time because of how little information the Western world had on the Khmer Rouge.

Doesn’t matter because even after the facts came out he refused to apologize or alter his stance, because at bottom all these intellectuals are the same: egomaniacs
