Based as frick. Electron apps are such goddamn pieces of shit. Why the FRICK does portmaster need to run with like 2-3gb of ram when every other firewall is a fraction of the size? Electron. Why does discord use nearly 500mb of ram? Electron. Why does every other program you download these days take literally 5-10x more resources than they need? Electron.

        >inb4 buy more ram
        Missing the point.

Took literally 3 seconds to find https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-releases
      where it says
      >Obsidian is not open source software and this repo DOES NOT contain the source code of Obsidian. However, if you wish to contribute to Obsidian, you can easily do so with our extensive plugin system. A plugin guide can be found here: https://docs.obsidian.md

I use Org-Roam, but the principle is the same: literally anything "of note"
      >The contact information of family, friends, birthdays, as well as any anecdotes they tell me so I can review that before meeting and make small talk about their bird watching hobby or ask them how the last drone flight went. Also people who write blogs since it's a small world.
      >Thoughts about the nature of things. I get really irritated when people call me smart at work, but I don't know why so I've been tracking instances of it to figure it out. I try to link these things to Psalms and technical Blog breakdowns because it easier for me to understand these subjects if I have chains like "k8s" -> "control planes" -> "disparate management" -> ("Organizational goals trickle down", "communication is lossy, but principles are small and coherent")
      >Lots of code. I use org-babel for executable code blocks and every time I figure out some cool technique, look something up, get hit with a GOTCHA, find a cool code snippet in a blog, or discover a neat library, I always try to write a simple code example that's executable in the page. With databases, I have dockerfiles embedded in the page tangled to files on disk that can be deployed quickly.
      >Patterns like OLAP, Business forcing functions, Family dispersion post Matriarchal death, etc.

I always felt like I should write things down, but always lost things, or got bored. Loose topologies and tagging made writing and thinking fun again for me.

Wait, just to be clear. What happens if, for example, I modify a file on my phone using mobile data while one of my devices is at home and the other is at the office?
          Will the files still sync?

yes - I do it frequently. You can set the sync frequency etc. on any device and it will sync changes regardless of the network.
            t. usually use the work wifi and that will change the home server ver.

  24. 1 month ago

based obsidian user. ever since i found this app, it's like a beast has been awakened inside of me, a beast that hungers for more knowledge every single day. whenever i add a new node to my mind map, i can feel my mind expanding and my IQ increasing. it allows me to break down barriers and improve faster than ever before.

just today, was working on this calculator app i wrote in C (my favorite low level programming language, and the language of choice for high IQ developers). i was getting deep in the code and got stuck, so i decided to return to my mind map to collect my thoughts and my analysis of the C language. when i returned to my code, fully recharged and renewed with fresh ideas, i was able to break through barriers and finish the app.
