It's a zero sum game, somebody is going to lose. There is no point competing if you aren't committed. The best that all the people who got into CS for the money despite hating it can do is to give up and find something else to make money while being miserable.

The founder of openai said his ai may break capitalism. He said so while being a successful capitalist. He said it because its what he predicts based on what he created. I think it's highly unlikely you might succeed in a wild idea. But the way I see it trying at something unlikely is better than business as usual my friend.

You can easily get a very stable and high paying job in this industry by getting good at infrastructure. Devops is a meme word but I guess that's what most people call it now: you should pursue devops.

Kubernetes too. Probably worth more than being a doctor.

I thought devops was usually reserved for experienced people? I don't want to do IT janny jobs for 5 years. Can you learn these skills on your own and find entry level work? (with a degree)

You don't even need a degree as long as you actually have skills. Believe me, people who are actually good at sysadmin stuff are incredibly rare, and the industry is never going to be automated enough or staffed enough.

Build a kubernetes cluster on your own with the Turing Pi, and that will give you more than enough experience I guarantee you.w

I got to vent a bit. It's just January and all I've heard are bad news from my family. People have died and I might have to divorce my wife. It's looking grim.

I'd say anything in healthcare, Nursing, PA, NP, an MD are always in demand, and have great job security. Construction is doing well now, same with any government job in accounting or engineering.
