The IBM TouchPoint system had its merits, especially in terms of enhancing customer experiences and streamlining processes. However, whether it was worth it would largely depend on factors like its implementation, effectiveness in meeting business goals, and the overall ROI for the organization.

The Thinkpad TrackPoint, often referred to as the "TrackPoint", is a notable feature on Lenovo's ThinkPad laptops and has garnered a dedicated following. Whether it is "worth it" depends upon personal preferences and specific use cases. The TrackPoint can be worth it for users who value precision and efficiency in their workflow, particularly those who work extensively with text or require fine cursor control. However, for those who are more comfortable with a touchpad or external mouse, the TrackPoint might not offer a significant advantage. Ultimately, it's up to you whether you prefer the TrackPoint based on your personal preferences and specific needs, and there is no objective answer as to whether or not it is "worth it".

Thank you robot. But how does it work? Do you press on it or something?

It's kinda interesting and much faster than the touchpad but it's kinda hard to get fine control. If there was a way to dynamically adjust the sensitivity it would be golden.

The Thinkpad TrackPoint, a most intriguing and oft-discussed feature on Lenovo's ThinkPad laptops, has indeed garnered a devoted following among certain individuals who have grown accustomed to its unique functionality and benefits. The question, however, remains as to whether or not this peculiar pointing stick is indeed "worth it" for those who are considering the acquisition of a ThinkPad laptop. And, as is often the case with matters of personal preference, the answer to this query is far from straightforward.
On the one hand, the TrackPoint can be a veritable game-changer for those who value precision and efficiency in their workflow, particularly those who spend an inordinate amount of time navigating through digital documents, spreadsheets, or other text-based applications. For such individuals, the TrackPoint's ability to provide a high degree of accuracy and control can be a significant boon, allowing them to navigate through complex interfaces with ease and precision. Moreover, the TrackPoint's compact size and unobtrusive design make it an ideal choice for those who prefer a more minimalist approach to computing, as it does not take up valuable real estate on the laptop's keyboard.
On the other hand, for those who are more comfortable with the tactile feedback and intuitive gestures of a touchpad or external mouse, the TrackPoint might not offer a significant advantage. In fact, some individuals may find the TrackPoint to be a bit of a novelty, a gimmick that serves no practical purpose in their daily computing routine. Furthermore, for those who are accustomed to the more conventional pointing methods, the TrackPoint's unique feel and functionality may require a period of adjustment, which could potentially hinder productivity and efficiency.
Ultimately, the decision as to whether or not the TrackPoint is "worth it" is a highly subjective one, dependent as it is on individual preferences and specific needs. Some may find the TrackPoint to be

I used these to pwn n00bs in Roblox during class on the school laptops back in 2010. If you get good at it, they can be pretty accurate (plenty for desktop usage, 'good enough' for gaming) and are way less physical effort and more reliable than a touchpad, especially the ones back then. Good times.
