Don't be such a raging homosexual.
The popularity of these handhelds increases the chances of us being able to move away from shitty paper thin tablets and laptops to chonky, thick devices with actual ports and maybe even desktop sized fans, memory, storage etc.
Aside from being portable, laptops are absolute shit because manufacturers have prioritized making them too thin to house decent parts.
Laptops have loud as shit fans, they run hot ASF and and are flimsy.
Not screaming maiddevice here but frick yes if we get handhelds with full blown OSes and ports.

the LOONIX success on the 'ECK is because it has no keyboard so they modified it so you dont need to use the LOONIX command prompt for everything.

In normal LOONIX you get the command prompt shoved in your ass even if you want to do updates or install some app or even uninstall anything.

Only successful loonix is that one that is modified in a way the command prompt is not even used and is so much hidden you cant even get to it!!!!!!

i didn't say the steam deck was fake jfc. i said it was because they aren't sugarcoating or dodging or giving multiple/different times on how long the battery may last.
the issue is that its competitors are like "oh no problem 4-5 hours+ yeah totally" in press releases and then "uhhh... you know.... 3... point 5... ish... hours... ish........." on their sites and then it's like 2 at best.
it doesn't matter if the steam deck has the best battery because it wasn't what i was talking about. i'm saying that it helps the steam deck because they don't sugarcoat it.

I though something like that would be cool, but ultimately I'm not sure what the use case would be. A handheld you can play anywhere, a tablet that needs to be placed on some flat surface while you hold a separate controller just doesn't seem to have much versatility and doesn't really enable any use case that a laptop wouldn't cover. In this case I think you'd actually be better off with a laptop.

In KDE you need a fricking degree in computer science. no way to do it in Dolphin, using fstab broke recently for no reason, 3rd party stuff like smb4k broke a long time ago and was never fixed. apparently the only way to mount SMB shares in KDE now is through god damn systemd.

The custom APU helped as well. Providing a good balance between CPU and GPU cores.
The competition had to use massive 8 cpu core notebook apus to get adequate number of GPU cores.

Meanwhile the reality of the deck
    >Can't play even indie games like abiotic factor and valheim, a measly 25fps on low settings in any game that's open world
    >still haven't fixed input lag issues from frame limiter so people have to use mangohud
    >still haven't fixed issues with gamescope stuttering and frametimes
    >still haven't fixed performance and OS still set to schedutil on startup instead of performance
    >still haven't fixed driver stutter
    >still haven't fixed shader cache stutter
    >still has build quality issues like headphone jack not being grounded properly causing static
    >still costs $600+ tax despite being woefully under-powered

For the price of a steam deck I can build a PC with a 110% SRGB 144hz monitor with freesync that you will enjoy much much more.

The deck is a glorified indie game machine and pre 2016 title player, that's the truth and even some indie games it can't even play because of optimization. Unreal engine 5 games suffer heavily. There's no solution besides building a desktop PC really, that's the only solution.

Just spend your money on a new gaming PC. $600 can go to a top of the line CPU, cooler and RAM when ryzen 9000 series comes out.

Switch otoh is gaurenteed to have the worst support, nintendo will actually patch it to make using it harder. I'm so confused bros ;-;. I really want a portable and the other ones seem to have waaaaay better specs and comparisons are all over the place (some games run extreme well on the deck, while others run way better on the say, the Go). The deck def wins on battery and portability though.

    few things on a deck

    - i don't care for multiple player, but I think I read some games don't even run offline due to anti cheat? (palworld?) Don't care AT ALL for call of duty

    - can i run Lucas Mod Launcher + Simpsons Hit n Run

    - Can I play the Switch pokemon games? How is emulation overall?

    - Is it true the deck is the only portable that you can suspend in game without issues or battery rains?

    - How long does shipping take? Is it worth going with the 1TB? or the 512 is enough since it can be upgraded?

      Have a deck
      >anti-cheat
Look for your games of interest on protondb.com, usually if it doesn't have invasive (kernel-level) anti-cheat it'll be fine. Kernel level anti-cheat already doesn't run on Linux anyways. Helldivers 2 is an exception, they have a pared down Linux anticheat that doesn't assrape your PC.
      >Lucas Mod Launcher + Simpsons Hn'R
      See pic, seems to work.
      >Switch Pokemon games, emulation
Haven't tried Pokemon specifically, but I was able to run Switch RDR for about 40 minutes (didn't have much time), it had some issues but they were issues with Yuzu. Overall emulation is solid, you probably won't be emulating Gen 7 (PS3,x360) games on it, but that's just because G7 emu is still WIP and needs lots of power. Haven't gone super hard on emulation yet but it's been solid from my dabbling, most just works, especially with EmuDeck's setup, even PS3 games are easy to setup, they just run poorly.
      >only portable you can suspend without issue/battery drain
The battery does drain while in suspend, it does seem to slow down the drain at about 40% though. If you leave it suspended for about 10 days it'll probably be dead. I haven't had any issues due to suspending, I do usually pause and save if I can though.
      >shipping
Took a week or two, I live in the US.
      >worth 1tb
I got the 64gb refurb and swapped for a 1tb Sabrent nvme. Saved a good bit that way, but last I checked there's honestly not much savings in buying the 512 & a 1tb nvme and upgrading it, it might actually have been 10$ over. If you get a cheaper nvme it may be worth it but I didn't want to deal with chinkshit.

Linux unironically. It allowed them to customize the OS to squeeze every last bit of system resources while also building a top-tier console-like experience without having to deal with Windows' bullshit and licenses that every other handheld console needs to deal with.
Sony and Nintendo did something similar with PS4/5 and the Switch since their OSes are based on FreeBSD, though due to the cuck license they could lock everything down.
