Over the last few years, reconstructions of ancient people have become very common and used several times as a "true"representative of people X or Y.
but how much of this is legitimately accurate and do this reconstructions even have historical value?

I mean, we have several people who do reconstructions,
like the guy from ancient europeans, beaker lady and so on.
How do we know that such recommendations are accurate? Could it be Pseudoscience?
the same with "official" reconstructions, we often have several reconstructions
extremely different from each other and do nothing more than cause more doubts... see the yamnaya for example, there are literally almost 5 reconstructions, each different from the other.
Are the reconstructions just fanfics from some crazy people?

    >like the guy from ancient europeans, beaker lady and so on.
I'd consider these to basically be sketches. If the skull is visible, you could check to see how well it matches.
    >Are the reconstructions just fanfics from some crazy people?
They're art based on what the artist knows and understands of the remains. Which they might not know or understand very well. I know the different methods used by different artists, so I could explain their processes.

Even if the accurate age of the individual is known, it is impossible to predict the surface texture of the face with any degree of reliability. This makes the reconstruction of the facial surface very difficult, with increased error related to increased age

Of course. Thus why I referred to it as a "sketch". These can give you a sense of the facial proportions as they might look with flesh on them, which can help you get a better sense than just a skull, but that might be all there is to it.

When multiple forensic artists produce approximations for the same set of skeletal remains, no two reconstructions are ever the same and the data from which approximations are created are largely incomplete

yes, that is exactly why we must stick to what we call anatomical art and artistic anatomy.
most of these reconstructions like the one in the OP fall more into the latter, which isn't very reliable if you ask me

      not necessarily!
most of the morphology of facial features (67%) can be determined following reliable scientific procedures and data.
the most fanfic we have are actually the shapes of the lips and ears, not the skin as some imagine
(yes. unfortunately the reconstructions of the WHG and the slightly brown yamnaya are correct.)

        >(yes. unfortunately the reconstructions of the WHG and the slightly brown yamnaya are correct.)
Correct with some margin of error, as skin pigment genes aren't 100% understood. Each category presented has quite a broad range, though not infinitely broad.

        Yeah
but there's something you forgot about skin; (and I want a source of the 67%)
Can the skin layer be determined with greater reliability? yes, HOWEVER in a child or young adult (21) it can be safely determined.
and it turns out that most (perhaps all) yamnaya skulls we have are from men well past their 21st birthday. and the WHG weren't that new either.
So pigmentation isn't that "dogmatic" yet.
Basically the degree of "artistic interpretation" (the name for this is fanfic) increases with regard to the texture of the skin's surface.
when people don't even look at the data, we have abominations like that yamnaya that looks like an orc from some Hollywood movie.

and even if you consider it rubbish, it clearly has its problems I assume, but the margin is pretty wide.
and if you still think it's rubbish, Andy's program is more complete (at least in some things) than Hlrisplex-s and do you know what his conclusion was? I'll let you look for yourself.
