      >Three years after the sack of Santiago de Compostela, Gunrod attacked Galicia again, only to find a powerful army sent to put an end to the Viking expedition.[2]
lmao dumb snowchimps running away when they encounter a proper armed force. It's less easy than attack a bunch of civilians

There was still an army at Santiago the Compostela the first time tho, it wasn’t just an attack on civilians like you’re trying to paint it. And the attackers themselves were just a random warlord and his warriors tho.

It was a bunch of militiamen and peasants rallied around a bishop, I don't call that an army.

And the army of Gunrod himself were literally just militia themselves, what’s your argument?

They were seafarers and had more experience fighting than a few men who just wanted to defend their church I think
snowchimps when they face an actual iberian army this is how it went:

Well you’ll have to back up your claim that the Iberians defeated by Gunrod were just “a few men who wanted to defend their church” because the only source for the event, the Historia Silense, mentions that they ravaged Galicia for three years before the King finally gathered a host capable of throwing the norse out. And that many Galician lords had had their land’s ravaged in the process. And it seems unlikely to me that No lords would have attempted to mount resistance, especially if the Norse could be easily beaten by proper Iberian warriors.

Well that’s what the Iberians themselves wrote on the matter.

They weren’t just savage raiders either, founding multiple cities in Ireland and Eastern Europe that still exist today.
That’s not to say they were super advanced or anything, just that the media charicatures of vikings aren’t entirely accurate

Kings in that area and time period were not much more than local warlords/chiefs.
