no it's fricking not you will get ticks, you will have flying insects flying into your fricking orifices because they're stupid fricking useless creatures, your shoes will get dirty, you can't even play geolocation games in a forest because spawns are always centered around roads, at worst there's fricking bears or wolves that will want to try to kill you. all the wild animals that don't try to kill you will stay outside a mile radius from you because they're terrified so you can't even pet them or anything. what the frick is fun about a forest?

lol but rural areas are unironically scary imo. at least in the woods you can larp like you're not gonna die eating the wrong berry or something. you can make an attempt at basic survival, assuming you were a total moron and did not simply go for a planned hike and bring appropriate amounts of food and water. but in western rural areas it's just overheated roads for hundreds of miles and if you step off that road some farmer is gonna blast you with a shotgun and there is literally nothing of interest to look at (at least not look at within range of zeke's .50 beo AR)

suburban areas are even worse. even if the fear of rural people is unfounded, american suburbanites are usually actually that bad, there is even less actual life to keep the place shaded and humid, and the roads are always mazelike and don't actually go anywhere that some touchy WASP isn't leering at you from with their CCW

I barely use my standing desk for standing because standing is uncomfortable as frick. Might get a treadmill because I can walk all day.

Standing desks are nice when you need to get under them to cable manage or whatever.
Also helpful if you use the table for more than just typing because different tasks have different ergonomics.

Imagine removing all the fun from physical activity

It's not about physical activity, it's just to keep you from being sedentary while doing shit that would otherwise keep you in one place.

i don't know why this is such a hard concept to grasp for some people

Well clearly it's a hard concept for the so called health experts on IQfy that would advice obese people to 'take walks for hours on end'. They probably have only seen reality-TV shows and think those are genuine ways for people to lose all that wait. I see more bad health advice on IQfy. Instead of a treadmill might as-well go for a excer-bike.

Walking 9-12km will burn ~800 calories. That is (roughly) 3kg a month.

Or, if you prefer Britain's rule over you: That is (roughly) 6.6 Ibs per month.

Studies on centenarians show that their lifestyle forces them to perform constant light exercise (gardenning, walking long distances to get their food from a market, etc). It's when their mobility decreases (e.g. broken hip) that they then quickly die.
Walking in front of a computer is not as good as daily walks in nature, but it sure beats sitting in front of a computer.

I love my treadmill. It’s important to be realistic about what you’re getting though - don’t get memed into thinking this is a workout or anything. You won’t get fit or even lose a significant amount of weight walking 10k steps a day. What it definitely helps with is counteracting the issues that come with being immobile for 8-10hrs a day (I’m not just talking about sitting - standing isn’t much better). I have more energy throughout the day, it helps with blood flow, mood, etc. - minor things that add up. You should still do a proper workout 5 times a week to stay healthy.

I use a similar setup for daily morning exercise before work. Usually, I walk at a 3.5 mph pace with a 20lb vest for about 1.25 hours (4 to 5 miles average). I can feel that my legs are much stronger, and I'm about 40 lbs down from my peak weight last year (220 to 180). My weight loss seems to have plateaued recently, so I've been trying to increase the intensity of the workout and be stricter on my diet.
I usually just play games or read stuff when walking on the treadmill, so it doesn't get too boring. Wireless keyboard and mouse on the adjustable stand hanging over the treadmill.

I don't think I could use a treadmill at the same time as using a computer. The movement would definitely make multitasking the two things very hard. I could try this with my recumbent bike, not quite the same thing, but not so different, i think?
What I do do is have Stable Diffusion gen stuff or a batch of things and since there is nothing else for me to do while i wait, I use my recumbent bike. Stopping for a minute to type a bit is not much of a distraction, then I continue my workout.
