Phone browser

It's unbelievable how bad firefox is on mobile.
It's unresponsive, slow on animations, lacks basic customization options such as setting a custom homepage, doesn't honor the device certificates and doesn't let you import your own CA certificates.
What do you use as your browser on the go?
Samsung browser works fine as my daily driver but I'm looking for something more privacy friendly.

Don't try to use memes you don't understand. It makes you look like a fool.

      >It's unresponsive, slow on animations
I don't have this problem. Maybe your phone is just shit?

My phone is Galaxy S23 Ultra.
If your browser doesn't work on top of the line 2023 flagship, it's just shit.
The problem with the animations is not the processing, however. They are just slow on purpose.

      Just use Fennec it's comfy

      For me it's Fennec F-Droid

I'll give it a try. Thanks

I'm not even seeing any animations, but then I toggle those off on the system level so I guess Firefox also follows that setting then
Firefox worked great on my Xperia XZ2 Compact with no noticable slowdowns of any kind up till I replaced that phone a few months back

Well, the animations are mostly only visible when navigating between the settings page, which is not excusable but ultimately irrelevant, I guess.
But the scrolling experience is very noticeably worse than anything else I used. It scrolls the page at a different pace compared to the rest of the apps on the phone.
Also, look at pic related. It randomly decides to a balloon tip that completely blocks user input until you tap on the little x button.

Anyway, lack of custom homepage & user defined trusted CA certs are already deal breakers of their own. So unless any firefox reskin adds those features in, it's not worth trying to get used to it.

Are you suggesting that window content is supposed to scroll at a different rate than the movement of your finger on the screen? Besides a custom home page is a really really unimportant thing on mobile became what are you even going to put on it, the search engine you access from the URL bar anyway, some pinned sites the built in page already has, or some overly stress inducing news site that you're better of not reading?

Tor Browser is trash on Android, sadly. Mull is the only browser worth using if you want privacy

      Gonna try this

    >asking for genuine advice from Firefox cultists
    Don't even bother, lmao.
Firekeks will always justify the 50ms input delay and the screen tearing while scrolling in their browser with "works for me" and "just stop using $100 chinkphones"
They'll never admit that their browser makes any high-end phone feel like it's from 2010.
Firefox for desktop is goated. Their mobile version? Not so much.
Just stick with Cromite, Kiwi or Brave.

I love how smooth chrome scrolling is, but i'm too used to firefox. Clicking the url bar and not selecting the link feels alien. Also having extensions like ublock, IQfy-x and ruffle is nice.
I believe you can use your system installed certs by setting security.enterprise_roots.enabled to true in about:config (which is aviable only on beta/nightly because frick you mozilla. fennec fdroid also has it).

If you think chrome is any good, you should give samsung internet a try.

Okay. That's one issue solved at least. Thanks

Scrolling is much slower on firefox when I swipe up or down. It's okay if you hold your finger on the screen as you scroll, but I like to make a flick up or down to trigger a scroll and tap the screen again to make it stop when it reaches where I want.
It works on firefox too but it's not as smooth as other applications and gets annoying quick.

As for homepage, I want my custom html page that I worked on to get consistent shortcuts across all my devices. There is no reason why a browser shouldn't be capable of this. This was a feature since the 90s.

yeah it really does suck on mobile
    >no desktop-like tabs
    >cannot make bookmarks your homepage
    >tab switching isn't "smart", switching from private tab to normal tab brings you back to homepage instead of the last tab, wasting my fricking time
    >selecting url to copy url takes forever because no ui to copy url to clipboard like in brave for example, so i have to hold down painfully finger onto url, wasting my fricking time
    >no ui to copy clipboard into url, again, I have to painfully hold down on url for 2seconds and select "paste
    >sometimes if you select url the tab switches to homepage, like WTF???
    >selecting a url from text that isn't a link, is not smart unlike kiwi browser, so on firefox i have to drag the highlighted text while on kiwi it knows i want all letters up to the space selected

all of this combines makes it so fricking slow to do anything

Just installed a chromium based browser and it's fast as frick compared to Mull.

Still using Firefox on desktop, that won't change any time soon.

Mull is heavily configured for privacy, that's why it's slow. did you go with Brave? wise decision too
