do you really need an alternative to middle? i would say it is the opposite: it has been long established to be the best solution baring some invisible cameras or moving cameras.

and what solution do you propose, moron? bending spacetime?

      Anonymous

Cameras that work through the screen. Selfie cameras don't need to be 12 gajillion megapixels with 14 different zoom modes.

The solution is no selfie cam.

      Or this.

      This isn't a problem, and doesn't need a solution

Nah, the solution is literally a half screen on the back of the phone. It would have a bunch of uses probably and could be used for selfie reference as well.

Half OLED color screen on the back for videos and gaymes.

Weird, a moving part on an electronic device that has no reinforcement and awkwardly sits outside of the chassis? Whoda thunk?

Surely they learned from the 90s and early 00's cell phones with those dumb little antennas might have shown them a protuberance on a consumer electronic is fragile.

        Anonymous

Oh, so stupid/careless people were the problem? The old phones with the antennas had far better coverage than the hip, cool and trendy without.
Somehow certain people have no problems with moveable parts.

Oh that explains why iphones have an aerial antenna huh?
          >Somehow certain people have no problems with moveable parts.
I see you've never created a product. Anything with movable plastic parts always get broken. Modern cell phones are glass and plastic. They break all the fricking time. They break when you're disassembling some of them to repair what previously broke. You're an absolute dumbdumb if you think movable parts are a good idea on any consumer device. Cars went full touch screen not because anyone wanted minimalism, car makers were getting rid of the dozen of moving parts (buttons). Ever notice modern phones are still trying to come up with ways of getting rid of buttons, fingerprint sensors, and anything else too?

Not him, but I used an already hand-me-down LG phone for at least four years. I was fine. Was a blessing not having to deal with shitty Fisher-Price Android 12+.

The attack surface of modern phones is immense, and just updating the Google Play store and/or services apps isn't enough. To make it short: the modems and basebands are insecure to almost a criminal degree on most phones and it's only the bug bounty programs that prevent modern devices from zero-touch remote access on every phone in the planet by random chinese hackers. Many of these exploits are crafted that you wouldn't even know if you're compromised. Even google acknowledges this:

it does because ARB burns a fuse in the chip and older bootloaders try to interact with it and fail.

ah yes, my mistake, i forgot that i DIDN'T flash my samsung, i made it all up and so too did everyone on XDA developers forum that ever flashed a samsung phone! Honest mistake, i should have remembered that samsung phones are impossible to flash and theres no way to put an older firmware on it! I'll have to go tell all the guys on XDA and the subreddits that theres no way to flash a galaxy s10 and they should all give up the jig.

Thanks for pointing out mt mistake! it would have been embarassing if I went on telling people I flashed mt samsung phone when it is in fact impossible to do so!
