Shithole it might be, they ironically have better wireless/mobile infrastructure. American providers will gouge you for every last bit they can squeeze out of copper.
Meanwhile since existing copper there is sketchy or sparse, they just leapfrog that to modern technology.

The wireless/internet infrastructure has been actively devolving here in Western countries (Canada, USA).
        >be me

        >really cold outside, outage for hours

        >just immediately goes to voicemail
        >gets hot out, lucky to get one bar on phone and data slows to 300kB/s

American contractors have been doing this since the dawn of USA
I just read why they don't have much sewage systems in Suffolk county, cause in the 70s they funded it and the contractors installed fake concrete pipes and other nonfunctional stuff and ran with the money.. the solution is more money and better design, but we laundered all the money into the "professional" pockets through education and local government services are basically giving money to spics
We should be holding the government accountable for the complete failure to deliver first world infrastructure, because they are clearly living different lives than the goyim

I would have liked this thing as a child in the early 90s. Plus it has antennas like an insect robot!!! You're too young to know but back then children didn't have real computers, we had toy fake computers that looked like that. We could do some activities, mostly to learn to read and learn grammar and stuff, there were also some word games and stuff, some were quite fun, me and my sister really used to laugh our asses off with one when we were 5 and 9.
You should see it from the view point of a kid who never had any computer or smartphone or tablet. I guess the main purpose of this thing is to let african kids access the internet.

I was one of the idiots who read about this back in the mid-late 2000s or whenever it was announced, and looked forward to getting one but they got delayed and the price ended up increasing and before it was even out things like netbooks and Chromebooks and whatever came out and made it moot.

It wasn't a terrible idea, but big corporations beat them to the punch and did it better. Now you can get a refurbished Chromebook for like $50 or something.

And lets be honest: you CAN make a pc with similar specs to raspberry pi from these, but... these people will never dream of a program doing the plants watering for them. They will never dream of a garden, you do not need to work to maintain, but mashines do it. These people are like boomers - you need to waste your life, you need to do moronic useless shit that will not be maintained in the future and will die in time. It is the curse of the low iq-s : to never dream of more than what you do right now. And my curse is autism. I will kms now

The problem was not with "muh Africa is too poor for komputaz!" but the fact that designer of this piece of garbage was so adamant about specification, completely missed the predicted price mark and ironically could not produce enough of them at reasonable time.
The reality is that in year 2024 most Africans can afford better computers than this piece of crap - your e-waste mid-00s tower usually ends there, lmao. And Africans schools and totally forgotten by God shitholes have worse things to care about than computers.

they didn't think this would work. the first thing to ensure in shitholes like africa would be clean water and a proper sewage system. this was a cover-story for a bunch of israelite pedophiles at MIT to go on sex-junkets to southeast asia. based Yoichi Shimatsu wrote several articles on it.

ah, I wondered why this came up after all these years.
I had one because of a donation. It was indeed a piece of crap, despite all the cool tech in it.
It was also the last gasp of OpenFirmware (they had its designer Mitch Bradley on the team). Having a Forth-based bootstrap layer made a lot of the initial development tasks go very quickly.
