Pro-solitude

Every book I have read on loneliness speaks of it as a very bad thing. What about the opposite? I enjoy being alone. What scares me most is the presence of another human being in my space. Solitary confinement would be great for someone like me, as long as the place's clean and there's food to eat and books to read. Post those pro-solitude books?

Nietzsche. Not pro-solitude per se, although he has aphorisms specifically on the matter, but he is a very individualistic minded philosopher.

If you're not shitposting then you're desperately mentally ill and should see a professional psychologist. Preferably a Jungian one.

    >Solitary confinement would be great for someone like me
Solitude is not the same as solitary confinement. In solitude you have access to books, media, nature, etc. Solitude confinement prohibits you from all those things. If you can't imagine how badly you'd suffer in a small locked room completely disconnected from the world, your brain lacks fundamental resources.

I bet you feel pretty dumb now.

... That's not solitary confinement... That's like saying, "Hell would be great for me as long as there's AC and entertainment." Are you serious or trolling?

Anon...depending on your prison, you can usually get books in solitary confinement, typically the religious kind, maybe even a radio. Unless you are a complete piece of shit or people hate you for no reason.

To be alone is wonderful, to be lonely is hell. Eventually loneliness would hit you like a truck and you'd start going mad.

Only if you play soletaire/cards or chess against yourself the whole time, as not to go insane. That’s what I would do. Bring board games if I was trapped in Solitary Confined in a cell.

I can't recommend Peter France's book 'Hermits, The Insights of Solitude'
He's an Orthodox Christian but talks about how the hermetic tradition changed over the years from China and India to the Greek cynics to the Trappist monks. It's a very good read and at the start of the book he basically says what OP did in that popular psychology says that solitude is a bad thing and that's that whereas Peter France says that the long line of hermits all over the world says otherwise

    >loneliness speaks of it as a very bad thing.
Because loneliness is the negative feeling to arise from being alone.
    >I enjoy being alone
Then you're not lonely. Are you dense?

Fine, I'm at fault for using that word. What I mean is people tend to portray human interaction for adults as a really necessary things, and lack of it as horrifying.

I don't care how many times people say solitary confinement would drive you heckin' crazy, it wouldn't do shit to me. I'm built different.
Oh no I have to entertain myself with schizo daydreams all day, for me that's a fricking Sunday.

Solitary confinement for me would mean constant meditation. I’m not sure how that would actually turn out but I was doing it for up to 2 hours a day a few years ago.. I need to get back into it.

Any particular book you follow for your method of meditation, or is it more of a natural thing?
