It’s actually sad that America was so incensed at being told the truth they elected a big corpo shill instead to tell them how amazing they were and invade Grenada to stand tall again. Americans are so dumb, just wanna be told it’s All ok and nothing is their fault

It really is the defining moment when America chose pleasant illusion over hard reality. Real late imperial shit. We've only managed some extra time in the pleasure dome because the Soviets fricked themselves faster than we can frick ourselves. In a decent world it would've been us to be reduced to misery due to the self-serving lies of our leaders.

Fun fact, the only way to initiate a depression with a modern central bank is for everybody to stop spending money. When carter was heading for reelection he was advised that at any point they could slide into a depression and he desperately wanted to stop that. At the time the country was in a massive state of stagflation, or rising prices with no economic growth from all the money printing and corruption, which is what is happening in the US today.

So his bright idea was to go on TV and tell everybody to stop spending money, which instantly crashed the economy overnight. A complete absence of an understanding of how the economy worked.

So basically to stop stagflation people have to stop spending money or everybody has to lose their jobs. What do you think will happen this time around?

You realize a 250,000 dollar home in 1980 is equal to a 1 million dollar home today in terms of equal purchasing power?

            Its the same
What isn't the same are property values, which is likely why "housing inflation' was dropped from inflation calculators, because housing prices are not representative of cost for the average American.
