this is stupid. there is no reason to downgrade when 4.6.3 has no major issues, 4.6.4 is coming and 5.0.0 is about to go alpha.

        >im still on 4.6.0

you should never stay on a major version change. you should stay on the last version before a major version change like v4.5.5. Even 4.6.3 is a better option than 4.6.0. 4.6.4 will probably be the last before 5.0.0

ok but im not experiencing anything bad happening so what is the problem exactly??????? GIVE ME LITERALLY ANY REASON beyond "you should not do x because ummmmmm i said so ok"

judging by some posters in this thread and from the list of clients i can observe while im seeding, quite a lot of people.

.0 is the first release of a new major patch, it is the most likely to have bugs, subsequent minor version bumps are bugfixes for that major patch with a very low chance of causing worse breakage.

status on I2P support? BiglyBT's UI isnt intuitive but I love me some I2P.

What's the point of I2P? It's slow as frick.

If all you care about is bandwidth speed, then you shouldnt care about I2P and should just carry on with your day. Not a sarcastic comment, there is just no utility for you.

I2P support works on debian trixie release. I am using qbit for i2p torrents together with i2pd (trixie).

Too high CPU usage unfortunately. Are there settings that can be adjusted to get it to scale well? I love the modularity and feature depth it has. The priority setting is just primo, and it doesn't take ages to pull in metadata from magnet links like qShitTorrent. Also the amount of info on pieces and peers is unmatched by any client. The only downside is the performance. I use an old 2013 laptop with an AMD A10 APU as my seedbox (frick AMD pre-Ryzen, god I hate them so much), and Tixati spikes to 50%+ CPU usage with 100mbits+ of traffic. Transmission on the same machine will happily saturate my gigabit connection on dozens of torrents at only 25% CPU, but obviously with transmission you basically have no functionality beyond start/pause torrents lol.

why the frick would you switch? you have a perfectly fine setup there. are you just another dumb neet who needs a timesink?

        Anonymous

I'm using binhex/arch-rtorrentvpn and it is deprecated apparently. Everything still works so there's no need to switch now but I just want to see my options in case my current setup starts to shit itself (will most likely be ruTorrent). rTorrent by itself does not seem to be in active development anymore either so if my current setup will ever start to cause problems then I want to switch to something that is in active development and has lost of features, qBittorrent being the most promising one.

rtorrent is fine. just switch to the latest version if you haven't. i'm on private trackers and we use that more than any other client according to our stats. you're wasting your time. it's a solid client. qbittorrent is for babies.

I would move to qBit when you need to (it can handle thousands of torrents) but I have a feeling that the last version of rtorrent is gonna be supported for a long time. It's still used on seedboxes.

Some stuck to 4.3.9 because they didn't want to update to specifically 4.4.0 because it was borked. But that bork has been fixed in subsequent releases, so you are fine upgrading from 4.3.9 to releases newer than (but not including) 4.4.0. But not everyone knows that or didn't remember to upgrade, so they're still using 4.3.9

I'd been using an updated client however it kept freezing after a while (especially if I suddenly downloaded at a high rate) so I decided to test 4.3.9 and so far it's been running smoother without freezing.

I wish they would fix the shit where it randomly ignores file priorities and will also randomly ignore the download in sequential order option. How the frick has that bug gone unfixed for like 10 years?

transmission is the best client, but qbittorrent is okay if you restart it twice a day

      >transmission is the best client
it's one of the best clients for low-resource machines like routers, Pi, NAS, etc but qBittorrent is the best full desktop client.
It's ok to use different programs for different things, anon...

      >transmission is the best client
it's a solid legacy client but even the devs fully admit it needs to be modernized which is what they are doing with 4.x and 5.x.

5.x is going to finally make Transmission a solid alternative to qBittorrent in terms of features.
