      I have it.

Interesting books, but the titles are a bit sensationalistic. Are they fiction?

Sold like shit and now is rare
Then they changed the cover for a lame one for the reprint

This is a fun book, I may have described it once or twice but I don't remember anyone else mentioning it on IQfy. I read my hometown library's copy years ago, which has an "older", very 1970s book cover, different from this one. When I first encountered it I only read the first few chapters and then stopped. One of the early chapters is a gratuitous sex scene between two young lesbians and then they get covered over with the fungus and die IIRC. I felt like I was getting away with reading porno, and then I felt weirded out and returned the book. When I got a bit older I checked it out again and read the whole thing through.

It's basically a fun twist on the zombie movie premise, but instead of zombies it's a highly infectious lab-grown super-fungus that starts going everywhere and killing everyone. You either die in excruciating pain or else you get transformed into a fungus monster. A crack team of experts are called in and ultimately they save the day, but much of Western Europe has already been ravaged.

It would make a perfectly good screenplay for a shlocky, potentially entertaining b-movie, I don't know why they haven't done a film version yet. They certainly don't have any original ideas of their own.

Kek, love that scene. The lesbians are also extremely violent and abusive. The final villain is a feminist-esque crazed fungi-ridden scientist with a legion of female followers trying to spread the "mother fungus" to the whole world.
Now you can surely picture why no one wants to make it a movie

            >feminism
            >fungus
I didn't play it, but it sounds like The Last of Us.

    >'The new Stephen King'
I guess that didn't exactly work out

No but it's fun to have it printed in the cover.
He was a very serviceable writer. But Stephen King is insane, he has like one bajillion ideas and write like 6 million pages in 4 hours. Very hard to top his numbers.
I might pick up Knight's other books some time.

That's a great book. I got the Valancourt reprint but I wish I had that original cover! Carnosaur is even better.
