Recent Windows Update Borking Millions of PCs

>The issues, first spotted by Windows Latest, also appear to be wide ranging from blue screen or BSOD crashes, stuttering and poor performance.
>The news comes as Microsoft's Windows Update team has been plagued by issue-ridden updates, which caused issues with Windows Explorer, the taskbar and other performance-related issues and crashes. Annoyingly, update KB5034765 caused error messages that appeared to be PC memory-related sending users on wild goose chases when troubleshooting their devices.

Not at all. There's a big difference between user error involving third party software and first party updates. Updates pushed by Microsoft themselves have been periodically fricking up billions of PCs since the advent of Windows Update itself. sure perhaps the kernel works, but the user space is a complete mess.
How much longer till Wayland actually works?
How much longer until normal users can do things they would on any other platform without having to tweak things just to get it to work on Linux?
How much longer until the open source drivers even begin to work half as well as the proprietary drivers?
Yeah I mean I guess the kernel is pretty good, but actually having to USE Linux fricking sucks. A computer is a tool, it shouldn't get in your way. This is explicitly why Windows and macOS exclusively dominate the desktop market around the globe. The whole world can't be wrong.

I use Windows on my desktop, Windows on my work laptop, macOS on personal laptop, and Linux for work and Linux servers for personal use. I'm very fortunate I never have to use it in a desktop environment.

Oh wow I had no idea Wayland suddenly started working over night with proprietary drivers and that xWayland support for apps and games is suddenly perfect and that screen tearing and multi monitor setups with different aspect ratios and rotation and HDR with different hi-dpi scaling suddenly worked flawlessly.
I forgot that Linux can suddenly play audio in dolby Atmos like on windows or Mac.
I suddenly forgot you can just click and run something and it will just launch and run perfectly without having to tweak any configs because it has to run through emulator layers.
I suddenly forgot how the open source drivers not only work just as well as proprietary drivers but they somehow actually work even better.
You're a fricking idiot and are just regurgitating nonsense you read online. People who actually value their time don't use Linux as their user space. There's a reason businesses aren't just handing out Linux machines EVEN IF they work with linux because they also value their workers time.

Boot live OS, back up thy files then reload and make a backup image of your clean install. Then next time reimage like the pros do. Frick troubleshooting.

I keep most of my Windows installs in VMs so I can reboot into a clean or select good previous snapshot. Of course they're on Linux hosts. If all you do is Windows you can load a Windows VM to test updates before pushing them to production.

Using windows 10 is a constant battle of "just take me to the fricking windows 7 version of this menu and stop moving it for frick sake"
I'll swap to mac/linux before ever letting windows 11's adware on my PC

Why don't you run both OS instead of the silly "swap" meme? It's easy to run both and you give up nothing by so doing. You can download prebuilt VMs and try different distros at once then over time find one you prefer. There being no need to have it on bare metal and Windows being convenient for gayming leave Windows as the host.

It's weird how now, more than ever before, it's important to have multiple backups of important files. On one hand you'd think we would have a good grasp on something basic like this, but then you remember who they're actually hiring to work on software and what they're prioritizing (like rounded UI corners and temporal graphical effects) and then you realize why it's actually worse than 15 years ago.

I used to store all of my important files on thumb drives, until someone here laughed at me for it, and then recommended proper external HDDs and SSDs and RAID networks. So it's hard to fault people for being computer illiterate these days. We take for granted that things will just werk.

Oh very nice, I'm glad it is working for you. I have an Intel 14900k and haven't had any problems either. I had read that some users on AMD platforms were having issues.

Maybe, although I actually have all the Windows Defender things enabled though including the ones not on by default. Could be anything really with the amount of configurations out there.

As people become more suspicious of Microsoft and Windows, there will be more pressure from the establishment to villainize Linux.

    Ever wonder why
    these blatant troll
    threads that violate
    the only rule in the
    sticky are never
    deleted while the
    mod is literally in
    these threads all day
    deleting posts?

    [...]

    [...]

    [...]

    [...]

    Because the
    apple Black person mód
    is the OP posting
    from his iphone.
    He spends 20 hours
    a day of his worthless
    NEET life posting and
    babysitting these falseflag
    anti-linux anti-windows
    flamewar troll threads,
    deleting posts
    exposing him as
    the OP, and saving
    his troll threads
    from page 10 after
    every 1-4 hours
    of no bites.

The only way to purge these shit threads off IQfy is to put a bullet in his head.

I accidentally put my computer into sleep mode instead of shutting it down last night. This killed the audio drivers so hard that I had to completely reformat and reinstall from a USB drive. Thanks, Gigabyte and Microsoft, for making me hate diversity hires and lowest bidder devs in India and similar countries with low working wages all so you can save a buck. Yes, I disabled sleep mode this time. My BIOS is updated. Just inexplicable audio driver corruption on the deepest level that makes me want to see the relevant executive and shareholder heads on pikes on my lawn tomorrow morning.
