brother, nvidia main advantage is not hardware, it's software (CUDA), they have been developing this shit even before LLMs existed

this was backed by AMD, and AMD itself dropped it, makes you think

          >this was backed by AMD, and AMD itself dropped it, makes you think
Not him, but I thought it was backed by intel and intel dropped it. And then AMD took the project.

it started for intel, then intel dropped it, AMD hired the guy to make it for AMD, then AMD dropped it too.

AMD/Intel don't want to leech on CUDA, essentialy making their AI hardware dependent on it

            >AMD/Intel don't want to leech on CUDA, essentialy making their AI hardware dependent on it
Good. CUDA should die in favor of new open source solution.

    >no x3d yet.
    >They want you to upgrade your cpu and spend 500$ for 2% performance (maybe).
Oh no nvidia truly is finished this time, not like amd doesnt have software or anything, surely cuda/dlss will be open source and run on literally everything in 2 more weeks...

NPUs have been in every iPhone sold since 2018 along with Google's phones since the Pixel 6, so a lot of people have been using them without noticing for years
This does make MS' attempt at hyping them up as revolutionary new technology seem a bit silly

They're only really used for lightweight inference in OS-specific features so there would be basically nothing useful to run on it even if drivers existed. Apple's can just about run stable diffusion at 512x768 at the same speed as a low-end GPU. If you want those capabilities just get the cheapest CUDA card you can find

It really doesn't matter at this point if you hold AMD or NVDA stocks as the demand for AI power is exploding and they both can't satisfy all of it. Tertium non datur.
