As a webdesigner of 30 years (I know I know) SEO has always be funny for me. Just don't make shit websites that's all you need to do to get ranked high. I have not spent a single second into SEO. These "jobs" exist because other people are terrible at their job.

I remember my boss telling me to paste a long list of buzzwords in tiny white font at the bottom of every page.

Yet SEO clearly works. Nowadays Google results that are not Reddit or SO are shitted AI-generated garbage or stolen content on literally who domains

Thats not SEO working. Thats Google destroying page rank and partnering with reddit to promote their content in means of ideological capture.

SEO jobs are not real. It's all a moronic pyramid scheme. The people like OP make peanuts while the people at the top are the ones eating with MR Beast.

This. I understand good copy-writing and translation work being it's own area with requiring certain experience and education, and web accessibility targeting cripples, morons and old people is much more of a complex mess than it looks, but how is basically filling in the <meta> native and og: and twitter: tags and the manifest.webmanifest and having explanatory enough content an entire job instead of being a competency shared between the FE developer and the content editor / copywriter / designer...

I have a simple fix for search engines.
Everytime a website is seen doing SEO homosexualry, ban the website, ban the website owner and ban all of its other websites from ever surfacing to the results again.

Sorry anon, the companies that pay for SEO also buy ads on the search engine, there's a conflict of interest :^)

Except CTR is impacted by search results, AKA the heading and snippet used by the search engine, thus if you spend time finessing this and increase your CTR by 1% that's potentially thousands of dollars. This is double true when it comes to "rich" snippets which pull videos and tables into the search results. You can't just slap together a website and expect good search rankings or a flattering search result.

    >jobs are ... le bad
    >goyim should be jobless to own nothing and (NOT) be happy, because ... your job is ... LE USELESS and ... LE UNPRODUCTIVE!!
Hate these gays. Jobs are good, no matter what

It's not that they're unproductive but more that they make life difficult for everyone else. A guy whose job it was to murder you and anyone who looks like you probably isn't a good thing.

True, look at Japan and those guys who just stand in elevators all day to push the buttons for you, at least they have a job

when people have to start making stuff for an algorithm the stuff suffers. google search, facebook, twitter, youtube etc. newer platforms people already know to start gaming the algo from the start, so like tiktok did not even last as long. its already been shit for like 2 years. a new site comes out and people already know what the deal is. a few people initially use it for fun and it gets a little popular and then people start gaming the algo and trying to bot shit. every time. this site is safe from it for the most part. now you can't half get good information, and all the new people making shit are only doing it for money and traffic (to get money).

The world would unironically be a better place if everyone involved in SEO dropped dead on the spot. Same with sales"""people""", MBAs, middle management, etc.

If I were Google, I would covertly contract a bunch of SEO people through a shell company, see what changes they make, and update the algorithm so that their techniques no longer work.

The SEO takeover of search is awful because it makes it virtually impossible to look up anything that didn't happen two weeks ago. I do a lot of research for my job and SEO has made it harder instead of easier
