Windows is free so it's not a commercial product either.

What is the point even, it's like switching from one corpo system to another less viable corpo distro. And before you start with "muh it's community project" kek sure it is, lmao. In your dreams. You better stay on Windows.

The difference is updates on Linux actually improve things, updates on Windows just add more spyware

Basically what LFS is? It isn't Linux raw, but is the closest to it
Anyways, every problem that IQfy mentioned about Linux never happened to me. Isn't my fault that the rest of IQfy is using memedistros

I don't use Fedora, but on Mint, I've disabled the update manager from starting automatically and just do it manually once per week or so.
Windows, on the other hand, just lets me pause and force itself upon my computer when I pause too much. An option to completely disable updates supposedly exists by using gpedit.msc, but that's taking things too far, if there's not a simple button to disable them all, I'm not using an OS designed for me.

          >An option to completely disable updates supposedly exists by using gpedit.msc, but that's taking things too far
I mean, this is the kind of shit Winblowers used to make fun of Linuxchads for.
If I'm wasting the same amount of time for either OS, I might as well do the smart thing and pick the community-driven OS, not the corporate one, at least with the former there's a *chance* it won't get fricked up.
With corporate, you're basically just waiting for it to get worse everyday, it's virtually guaranteed, because whatever's good for the consumer is rarely good for the corporation and vice-versa.

Just disable TPM and it'll leave you be, since TPM is totally required and W11 absolutely cannot function without one it will no longer offer upgrades with it turned off.

I'm sure it does for whateverthefrick but I've always had it off (since that's the default) and W10 has worked fine without complaining.

Yeah, it used to be you could free yourself from this by paying $30 retails and go Pro, now they want me to shell $200 for the functionally equivalent and renamed LTSC, LTSB, IoT or wathever the cool kids are running these days.
Nope, not gonna pirate or crack it either, that would mean having code from Microsoft AND crackers on your PC (probably botnets or cryptominers).
I mean, if the choice is not obvious by now, you probably shouldn't be on IQfy to begin with...

I can't be arsed to verify it. It'd take me a few more (check checksums of vanilla/cracked Windows installation for all files present post install, etc.), in that time I'm done installing and customizing LMDE, Ranjeet.

Also, if I cracked Windows for you, you would certainly think it's clean.
I mean, even "clean" for your standards, Ranjeet.

2bh there's not much reason to avoid it anymore
yeah it pretty much released whilst still in beta but it's fine now
it's worth updating just for the far improved dark / light mode themes and windows controlled pc / peripheral lighting which is rapidly being adopted
