Nothing screams "Im old" like complaining about the youth. Every generation does it when they get old but surely this time they are right about the kids

      Anonymous

Yeah kids these days are doing terrible things to the English language and society, not like in the old days. I don't know how their parents and grandparents allow it.

Whats more cringe, complaining about how shitty youth new language is or actually using that language as a 30 year old?

You don't have to use the language to realize the people complaining about the youth are just getting old

I think that type of origin is true for all slang and is part of the reason it's considered bad
at least half the slang from the previous generation is literally just "black people said this a bunch"

None of these words will trascend and will be forgotten given enough time. Kids my age had slang just like it 20 years ago in school and none of the words we considered cool are in use now. Regular English always prevails.

Now this brings some perspective. I'm glad to know our preoccupations are at least 5823 years old.

About a thousand years. It wasn't something that happened over night either, Assyria slowly declined but wasn't as bad as the Mediterranean surrounding areas

Historical records from that time are exceedingly sparse (obviously). The first ruler from the Sumerian King List that is thought to have actually existed comes 100 years after when that meme says the tablet was written.

      It is fake
      >According to the Wikipedia article on the history of Sumer, writing of speech like this quote isn't recorded before about 2600 B.C. Also, the idea of people writing books would not fit in 2800 B.C. Furthermore, the Assyrian kingdom, according to the omniscient Wikipedia, didn’t begin until around five hundred years after the supposed date of the supposed tablet. So it’s pretty apparent that the quote is a hoax, or more charitably, a myth with lasting value.

It's a IQfy meme that seeped into the normiesphere. It was originally intended as a "frick you" to normalgays. However, it then somehow got adopted by the normalgays themselves, morphing into meaningless nonsense. Went from "frick the system" to "bruh love the grind fr on god." The moment this happens, the meme loses its relevance on the Surinamese beaver hunting forum. It's an amazing phenomenon and provides great evidence of the fact that 95% of people are mindless cattle.

In meme culture, "Ohio" is a hellscape state, where order gives way to chaos and destruction reigns.
      >skibidi
A purposefully nonsense word used ironically. "I have skibidi rizz!"
      >sigma
Used ironically. "I'm a certified sigma male, just like Ryan Gosling." It means you are cool, cold, calculating, don't depend on anyone, etc.
      >rizz
Short for charisma. If someone has "rizz" it means they are good at talking up the ladies.
      >gyatt
I think it means butt. "I have a level 10 gyatt.
      >fanum tax
Apparently from a streamer who would "fanum tax" (my impression is his streaming name was fanum or something) his fellow streamers when he met them in real life by taking a bit of food from their plate. So if I say, "Caseoh fanum taxed the entire waffle house," you get the idea.
      >sus
In the hit video game Among Us, "sus" was a quick way of saying another player was "suspicious."
      >griddy
Pretty sure this is another one of those words that means nothing but is commonly used to refer to something mechanical you use, like a lever. "Shinji, hit the griddy."
      >1, 2, buckle my shoe
      Never heard it.
      >mewing
This was popularized by the incelosphere and is used ironically, as really all of these terms are. Mewing is the practice of pushing your tongue against the top of your mouth, against your front teeth to make your jaw push itself forward so that you can looksmaxx.
      >suiiiii
Never heard of it. My guess is it means something similar to "SHEEEEEEEESH" which was just an expression of amazement.
