To understand you must first look at all the things they do for makeup, fashion, hair, shoes, etc. They tend to be possessed by social trends for social purposes in ways that are hard for men to comprehend. This also translates to tattoos and it's normal for women to think they've become more attractive in the process, just as with those other practices they invest into.

Academia is an extremely effeminate industry. 1% of men who are academic administrators are based while 99% of them are total cuck onions boys. I am an administrator myself and the constantly try to be passive aggressive with me to push me out because I don’t jive with their effeminate ways.

            Anonymous

Also in academia here and the drama is fricking insane. It's funny because the older professors still have the old kind of drama, from when it was a bunch of neurotics playing petty power games and ruining grad students' lives, and the younger professors (30s-40s) have the new kind of drama, which is much more millennial yuppie effeminate office worker type shit. Two different kinds of shit.

            Anonymous

Well, are you faculty or admin? Faculty has a ton of drama. I don’t really get any drama in admin. Staff and admin people are just really petty and effeminate. Faculty are petty, effeminate, and dramatic. They’re so passive aggressive and belittling. And they always try to pull this “I’m smarter, I know better” card even when they don’t actually know shit. They’re seriously the worst people I ever met and I worked in a couple of industries known for having psychos in them. I hate watching them shit on staff because while a lot of the staff are also incompetent morons, a small minority of them are way more competent than any of them.

Technically, Alexander Pope’s Iliad and Odyssey were also heavily influenced by Anne Dacier’s translations of Homer.

In 1699, her prose translation of the Iliad appeared, which earned her the esteem in which she is held in French literature.[7] It was followed nine years later by a similar translation of the Odyssey, which Alexander Pope found useful. Dacier in turn published in 1724 remarks on Pope's translation of the former (1715–20), which gained her some fame in England as well.[9]

It is. In the intro the translator tries to explain why a middle-aged white academic dork's attempt at Black person bop is fitting. He says the "P-airides" use a different dialect that he presumes to be urban.
Classics is full of this garbage. A translation into rap, no matter how poor, is guaranteed to get applause. Classicists nowadays are so embarrassed at studying dead white males they go to any lengths to negrify and feminize the ancients. I know one professor who starts her Latin and Greek poetry classes with a rap song, e.g. Notorious BIG and Fugees, then asks the class to keep it in mind and try to relate it to the day's readings. It is even more pathetic than it sounds.

At that point, might as well create a duo translating team of one "high level" rap artist and a Classics scholar, lmao. At least then you might get something that sounds cool. That just sounds like the worst of both worlds. It's not a good translation AND it's not cool sounding as rap.

Yeah. I don’t know what this speaks to that’s more depressing, the state of women or the state of academia. I mean, I work in academia so I see it every day and obviously interact with women. You guys may be aware what women are like, but many of you won’t realize just how bad academia is, just how bad academics are. They might be the most insufferable people on the planet in all honesty and they’re complete frauds. Very few of them are good at their jobs. Very few of them are even good people. It’s getting really hard for me to be positive about anything anymore. Sometimes I feel like running away to another country.
