YouTube's opus is 128 kbps vbr, no idea why people still pretend it's 160, that never made any sense
pretty sure it all started when the moronic youtube-dl devs marked it as such as they don't understand how vbr works and used some nitpicked example where the vbr alghoritm made the average bitrate 160

Spotify has a free tier and a premium tier. "Pirating Spotify" just means having the premium tier while owning a free account.
And when you think about it, it can all be overcome client-side. You can block the ads and request songs whichever way you like, so you don't need to "Pirate their servers". And yes, the experience is 100% smooth, you wouldn't even tell the difference between a cracked app and a paid one.

While we're on this shit fricking service, riddle me this:
When a playlist ends and you have autoplay enabled, why does Shitify always play the same fricking songs in the same fricking order? It didn't use to do that, it used to generate a fairly random playlist with some familiar and some new songs. Now I always get the same fricking shit.

      Anonymous

actual random shuffle triggers some people when it gives the same few songs, I believe they changed it to a deterministic method and it probably doesn't change the seed once the entire playlist cycles

        Anonymous

No, I don't have shuffle on. It's not a shuffle problem, which is what makes this so infuriating to search for online. It's autoplay, the feature that keeps playing songs after a playlist has run through. It then plays songs that are on the playlist and songs that aren't on the playlist, but always the same and in the same order. And this didn't use to be the case. The feature would play a random assortment of songs, some recurring from the playlist, and some new ones, but now I never get any new ones. It's bonkers.

I noticed this too, but I thought I was going crazy.

Same, but then I actually noted down the songs it would play and bang, it's the same fricking ones in the same order every time.

I'll be swapping over to Apple Music then, I hope they worked on their playlist making and song recommendations. Then I'll more than likely look at solutions I can host at home and access anywhere, any recommendations bros? Spotify is probably my most used service.

I actually prefer Qobuz to Apple Music, but I also use their E2EE video for a doorbell cam and enjoy Apple TV+, so it's just money ahead for me to go with the Apple One subscription.

        >Apple One subscription.
I also already use a few services, might be worth just going with it all honestly. I'll look into it.

If you use iCloud plus (the 99 cent one), Apple TV+, and Apple Music, its the same price, you just get Apple Arcade thrown on top. I don't use it, but my wife does.

If you reach the point where you're subscribed to enough Apple things that Apple One would be cheaper, it will ask if you want to subscribe to that instead automatically
If you haven't used the Apple Music trial they'll also give you a discount on Apple One equivalent to the price of Apple Music for 3 months

Currently just using icloud plus for backups, but it looks like for $26 I can keep my 200GB of cloud storage and get Apple TV. Would like the 200GB on the individual plan honestly, but I'll probably just go with the Premier and see if my family can make use of the slots.

            Anonymous

200GB is a family plan too, isn't it? Do keep in mind that all those plans include family sharing for everything except for Apple Music. So if you stick with the individual, you can share icloud, ATV+ and Arcade with them.

            >200GB is a family plan too
I'm just paying the $2.99 for the cloud storage, I have no idea if I can share that with anyone. I'll see if I can keep my 200GB storage plan AND get the Apple One plan. That would bring it down to like $22/month which would be a pretty good deal if I'm the only one using it.

            Anonymous

It's up to you whether you want to share your icloud plan with your family. You can give and revoke consent at any time. Even the cheapest Apple One plan lets you share everything except Apple Music with the family.

Oh, it's not enough where I would consider bringing someone else on so I didn't think I could. Good to know I can. I'll try ordering that Apple One sub around the time my spotify is set to renew and see if I can have it setup how I wanted, 200GB cloud plan + Apple One Individual benefits.

Did some digging, turns out you can have a separate cloud storage plan from your Apple One individual plan. I will be swapping over entirely in that case.

iPhones have gone USB C now, so you'll be fine whenever you upgrade. Lightning is officially dead thanks to the EU actually doing something good for once.

Classic software as a service cycle, just like Netflix. Offer a good (convenient) service and eat losses while building valuation, then with either everyone using your service or realizing you're too deep in the hole to keep going, start squeezing your users for every drop of blood they have. Piracy doesn't have this issue funnily enough.

check if your favorite artists if they're releasing their music there, I guess
and if you're on linux you're forced to use a browser since there's no native app, not even a third party one
I've noticed there's no shuffle and repeat functions on the webapp too
I'm not really bummed by this since for the artists I support I'm already getting their music through bandcamp or ripped it from CDs and pirate some few others I really want to keep

Can someone redpill me on soulseek?

My buddy was using it and his bank account got drained like a week later and it was this whole thing.

    He blamed soulseek for it.

I'm in IT and I called horseshit that soulseek itself caused it and he probably downloaded an exe or something from it (I have no idea how soulseek functions beyond a high level so I only assume downloading exes is possible) But it's a reputable program so I highly doubt that it directly caused the problem.

Or it was something completely unrelated and he was just a moron somewhere else coincidentally. Still, it wigged me out and I've been hesitating trying it now because of this shit.

Thanks. That's my opinion too based on what he is telling me but he has been known to withhold things if they're potentially controversial or embarrassing.

I want to do the same thing.

I have like 32gb of miscellaneous music I used to manually sync across 3 separate sansaclips, a flash drive in my car, my laptop, my phone, and my PC. Various shit between Newgrounds music, YouTube rips from 2009, CD rips...It all got tiring and I wanted to discover more music more quickly so I ended up paying for Deezer so I at least could get lossless. I desire to return to offline files so I've been looking into soulseek.

Yes a centralized server is in the plans but I'm ADHD as frick and haven't gotten around to it due to 15 other projects and hobbies. I don't really use my sansaclips anymore but that's only due to not driving the cars that need them as much anymore. I want to return to the old ways.

Unless he downloaded a moronic Limewire-tier file, there's no way it was related to Soulseek. And even if he did, I would consider that his fault. I have used Soulseek for over a decade and never gotten any kind of malware.

You guys are aware there is a libre frontend for spotify, right?
And you are aware it is extended to work for non-premium accounts as well, right?
So you can, in theory, just download directly from spotify's servers.

Spotify to YT/Apple/Amazon Music is what iPhones are to Android phones when it comes to normie herd mentality. Normietards look down on you when you don't use Spotify, but they're basing their pride on fricking nothing when they pride themselves participating in a platform encouraging cuckolding: Freetards get cucked by not having the skip button that is available on literally any other music players out there, paypigs get cucked by constant premium pricing increases, artists get cucked by penny royalties, Spotify shareholders get cucked by their non-profitability (still operating on a loss lmao fricking losers), employees get cucked by shitty management and pay (see indeed reviews), and Spotify company itself gets cucked by UMG or other music rights companies. It's the most cucked music platform to ever exist, yet Spoticucks think they're superior just to use a service that is in essence the same as everyone else: a recommending machine learning algorithm that knows what kind of music to play next.

Every time when a new music drops, you will never hear anyone say please put this on X music platform because SoundCloud or YouTube is fricking free, but Spoticucks will be the first cucks to scream
    >PUT THIS ON SPOTIFY BRO!!!
because they enjoy getting edged by musicians that probably wanted to put their music on other platforms if not the normietard cuck herd mentality. Total Spoticuck death.
