Doubt that added more than 1mm, OLEDs are notoriously thin. I'm more curious about how much this extends the lifespan and whether they implemented the usual stuff to prevent burn-ins like moving UI elements slightly from time to time.

I, too, gaze in amazement at whatever useless incremental improvement my corporate overlords tell me to be amazed at. if your screen is not marginally brighter in sunlight than a PS Vita are you even living?

It is though? Though quality-wise, I think only the blacks are going to get noticed by a normal person compared to 2018 version unless seen side by side.

There's a couple PC laptops with the exact same tandem OLED tech from LG
Is it actually not that impressive or why weren't these laptops marketed as "Featuring revolutionary tandem OLED displays" ?

Tandem OLED is actually kinda revolutionary. Industry term is "stacked OLED" and got nothing to do with two screens side by side but stacking them over-each other. AFAIK there are no other consumer devices using it still.

The LG Gram Fold was announced by HP to use Tandem OLED displays, though it's South Korea-only at the moment. Launched late last year.
Unless LG decided to make an otherwise identical screen sans tandem then the HP Spectre Fold is also a Tandem OLED panel, just that either nobody gave a shit about it until now or Apple paid to get first dibs to use the name in marketing.

Can't seem to find any reviews on it. And sure, Apple helped to push it but the idea seems genuinely pretty good given it takes care of the big OLED issues like brightness and longevity. Blame LG for not selling their features better and cucking the Western market.

Android has always been first to release new innovations, which are often buggy and clunky but still innovative. Apple takes it time and perfects the innovations making them smooth and stable.
Shitdroid will always be a meme and for poors.

Is it even true? Aside of stacked OLED, wasn't Apple the first to release fingerprint reader on a phone and more importantly 3d face unlock?

        >Apple the first to release fingerprint reader on a phone
        zoomers are fricking moronic
        >more importantly 3d face unlock
windows hello was a thing for years before apple bought primesense for faceid. apple's only pro is they have it on phones, yet somehow they still haven't made it available on macs even with those huge ass notches

          Should've specified "smartphone" eh?
          >windows hello
Meaningless marketing term that includes other biometrics too and AFAIK even 2d shit. Like sure, it's fine for the "we have it too aspect" but practically it's worthless if the customer has to read fine-print on every laptop to see whether it actually supports the decent version with IR cam.
          >yet somehow they still haven't made it available on macs even with those huge ass notches
          Pretty bad indeed.

            "windows hello face authentification"
Which is rarely mentioned on product pages, but just "Windows Hello" is.

That doesn't matter for the subject of "who made it first?". This is just "who markets it better?"

A bare OLED panel is less than 0.3mm. And ipads/phones before this always had wiggle room in the casing to begin with.
They just realized that people will buy shit no matter how high the price, so they know they can go for it.

FFS none of this is hard. Android is a meme. A shitty meme full of bloat, security holes, slow and sluggish, and shit updates.
    Here’s what you do:
    1. Save up your Rupees, Rupias, Ugandan Shillings, or whatever shit coin your 3rd world home uses.
    2. Buy an iPhone
    Problem solved.
Just make sure you keep it hidden so your village warlord doesn’t behead you and steal it

I'm not sure, all I know is that it's quite a dumb and pointless selling point, it just makes it look easier to bend and break, even if other tablets out on the market are thicker, it's barely really noticeable during use. If you're into Apple and iPadOS, you'll get an iPad, if you're not, but do want a tablet, you get a Samsung/Google/etc... I'm probably getting a Galaxy Tab S9 FE soon.
