if I remember correctly they were unsure if there was a nuke on cuba so it was a case of to risky, that and it would be more ideal to have some exhiles start a movement and overthrow castro without the need for direct intervention

It is worse when you get to know Castro kicked out boers and anglos out of Angola with a tiny army, that with his sexual power he got his misbegotten son to rule Canada and turned the surrounding US backyard countries in the Caribbean into cuban colonies. It had Castro been born in a larger and more powerful country and you get a conqueror like those that mark an era.

        >support their way to power
        >they win
        >become hostile towards US, kick out burgers and reduce their presence into irrelevance in the region
        >they become friendly towards Cuba that now can trade with other nations again (no trade since Russia ambit collapsed)

Castro did all this during US peak of power after the collapse of the USSR tho, it is quite impressive how DI (cuban intelligence) totally BTFO the CIA

    >Slightly fewer than 425,000 Cubans were encountered at U.S. ports of entry in fiscal years 2022 and 2023, according to CBP, and 200,287 of those arrived in fiscal year 2023, which ended in September.

    >Those figures have smashed records. More Cubans have come to the U.S. in the last two years than came during the Freedom Flights, which saw 270,000 Cubans leave the island over a roughly eight-year period between 1965 and 1973.

    >The sharp uptick in Cuban migration comes as Cuba’s economy has stagnated over the last few years, leading to widespread blackouts, shortages of food and medicine and deteriorating quality of life for the country’s inhabitants.

Them not being capitalists doesn't effect you at all nowadays. Further meddling in their politics is just imperialistic behaviour trying to establish hegemony.

            Yes it does
Read about accelerationism, for the next stage of society to be reached capitalism has to be pushed to completion. By being socialist Cuba is paradoxically slowing down the transition from capitalist to socialist mode of production

The way a lot of social programs operate in Cuba is literally not much different than in nordic countries. You americans have to overcome this huge paranoia you have as if you are boarding quadrillion enemy countries and that the national threat is just around the corner, a small shit island like Cuba is enough to mind break the mighty america. I don't want to know how many nukes you guys would have dropped if you were actually bordering hostile countries, instead you have 2 entire Oceans of buffer. If you were in Europe's, Irans, Chinas or Russias place you would've gone completely mad.
