it's nice that irrelevant shit that you can customize in seconds with user scripts made you do that but not the shitty algorithm, blatant censoring, countless bots in comment section and pajeet videos on any topic did it...

I think it looks better than edges and boxes, it's an element that stands out, but doesn't look as was just pasted there, compare Windows 11 to Windows 8, for example, it's night and day still.

I don't get the hate they get.

      what's wrong with round corners?

        Anonymous

an 8px rounded corner instead of a box is 14px of wasted space
they NEED that space to be filled

turning off history and getting a blank start page was the best thing to happen to YouTube. They just need to center the search bar vertically

He is right. You are wrong. This is why you will always be a slave. You think just "not clicking" is enough. You don't understand how precious a resource attention is. Visual distraction is the single most profound way you are being controlled without realizing it.

          Anonymous

This is fair, many of those addons just block the javascript from loading anything so you save some resources.
I personally rely on the recommendations but also use blocktube to block channels, it automatically clicks "not interested" when hiding and that makes the algorithm giving me the opposite of that, eg. I find some moronic guy, instantly after I block him I get the correct take that the guy missed.

Best thing YouTube did was get rid of recommendations when I turned off history.
Unfortunately it still tracks history and uses it on the sidebar suggested videos, even though they say they don't. But they do.

      Anonymous

They have both a long term profile on you and a short term one that's only active short term.

Every time I deleted my history and watch a single video from the past that I've really enjoyed, it recommends me all the other videos I've enjoyed over a long span of time.
Either they have this invisible to you profile or the algorithm has always worked the same and gave me those things that it thought I will enjoy and it didn't need to much info to "reason' that way.

Like there's nothing interesting to watch.
    Nothing at all.
I spend more time scrolling and looking for videos that are interesting than watching them.
Starting to think of just ditching youtube, since their israelite censorship of everything interesting "algorithm" has destroyed the site

I'd recommend Defunctland or Dr. Mick. Defunctland for niche entertainment autism and Dr. Mick for probably one of the more insightful "[x profession] plays [y game]". I can't say I agree with every concept or interpretation, but to me good content gives you something to think about rather than be agreeable.

I'd definitely recommend starting with his GTA5 series.

All it recommends me is ads disguised as reviews. I can't even use youtube to find music anymore because it just constantly buffers when I have an adblock on and with the adblock off I often get ads in the middle of songs, both of these kill the listening experience.

        Anonymous

It's because most content today is made around add offers.
A decade or so ago and until most people caught up content was made first then ads were added in.

I know this because this is what big channels say they do now if they are open enough to have redpilling employees that spill the beans and also because I know there exists websites where you go as a content creator to pick up add offers, and they often make the video for you, write the script etc, they just need your face.

      >is youtube really REALLY shit these days?
It's been shit for a long time now. Creators don't really have incentives to make quality content when the only videos that get pushed by the algo are clickbait slop and ads disguised a content. Even most tutorials are useless now.
I don't know why people keep going into youtube. At the very least if you need to watch something just use invidious, newpipe or freetube, so that you leech their traffic without giving away your data to them.

    >make accounts mandatory in order to watch vids

    >make uploading subscription-based
    >tax extra on private/unlisted vids
Is a great filter such as this likely to happen soon? Will this make Gen A slightly less moronic than zoomers? The future is looking bright bros...
