the absolute STATE of modern personal computers

>need laptop to tune my car
>go to store and buy cheapest windows laptop because all it needs to do is run basic tuning software and watch youtube videos
>can't even turn it on without connecting it to the internet
>have to jump through hoops to avoid making a microsoft account

>download Chrome straight away so I can use adblock
>won't run the setup.exe
>google problem to find out I can't install "untrusted apps" because windows is in "S mode"
>have to jump through more hoops to turn off "S mode"
>won't even let me do it anyway
>crack the shits and plug in old Xubuntu USB I had lying around
>bios won't boot from USB
>have to jump through more hoops in BIOS to enable USB boot
>finally boot Xubuntu and wipe everything

This is the worst computer experience I've ever had in my life, do normies just accept this shit now?

Depends if you view people as oriented around principle, or on outcome. Does the chainsaw make the need for the lumberjack, or does the lumberjack create the need for the chainsaw? boomerbomber ultimately had a lot of complaints but zero practical solutions. He seethed over the development of natural woodlands, and he'll never be known as anyone who did anything but exactly that while writing his draft on why we ought to stop doing 'whatever' it is that he deems a problem. This would be in spite of the fact that this effort of seeking efficiency is just as natural as anything else that he prefers, in spite of the fact of it being a thing we've done since the stone ages when we started making new and better weapons and spears to better kill animals, or people

            Anonymous

            >the lumberjack or the chainsaw
it is irrelevant because it all boils down to the main problem, cutting trees because we need wood. There will be better lumberjacks as well as better tools for the job as long you need to cut trees and you have no other set of solutions.

For the rest "the solution is not good" is irrelevant since we're talking about the analysis and stick with the analysis only, the reason why bomberman freaked out is because the more specialized and optimized you are fir a complex system, the more indipendence and versatility you lose, i.e. former humanity. But i already know everything was doomed to be bullshit and exploding powerplants would do nothing at it.

just because you have a wide range of technology on hand doesnt suddenly make you an inflexible cripple. Engineers and project managers across the world very often make niche solutions to niche problems that didnt exist at any point at all prior to then, and this ability to adapt will probably never go away so long as people have the brains in their skulls to continue facilitating it

What'sthe last time humanity survived without fire? The focus is also on the whole industrial system not just a bunch of niche solutions.

there are many ways to live without fire or heat or clothes, but ironically I'd say that embracing the environment necessary to live in such a way would limit your options severely. Im sure you might be able to get by living in some jungle eating meat that has been left to marinate in salt for a while, but we wanted to expand, grow and dominate.

My point with niche solutions is that industrial society is exactly just that: a mountain of niche solutions.

Now take your adderall, next we work towards your genetic background to get a full implementation of your biology to the stress of fast processing technological system, you don't need to think or do anything out of your will anymore because it's not efficient.

considering how we are a species with defined role and the possibility of switching between them, aren't we arguably already eusocial? No matter whether it were in the stone ages or modern day, nobody cares for your individual plight but you; either step up and build the tools to solve it (heh) or be replaced by those who either dont need to, or do so effortlessly

            >aren't we arguably already eusocial?
            No, my mongolian friend.
We still can't control our population and choose their phenotypes and roles according to our economic needs like ants and bees do without problem. You still freely frick whoever you want and choose to flee outside of your social group somewhere else without dying in the process like an ant, and stop processing data effectively as a part of a collective hive mind.
The way humanity works is to get a huge pool of people hoping that some of them will do the job, it's slower and less optimal but at least you're not enslaved.

            >step up and build the tools to solve it (heh) or be replaced by those who either dont need to, or do so effortlessly
You're right, the thing is somebody has to be the pawn dying in the battlefield, if you're not willing to build such society another social group will pop up and outcompete yours.

Bomberguy knew this he knew there's no solution to it, so he logically resorted to erase the industrial system from our collective and genetic memory and reset everything to 0. Everything telling you how to build a machine must be destroyed because industrialism is seen as a something anomalous in history (according to the manufesto at least).

            Anonymous

a basic google search does say that we do fit within a loose definition of the term. What does technology have anything to do with a 'hive mind'? much of what is made and invented is done so in spite of the collective, not for the sake of it. The sale of cars isnt a selfless act. The dealers do it to make money, and the buyers buy cars to achieve their particular goals and obligations that they value. The moment a 'hivemind' comes into the equation is the moment it entirely falls apart.

Additionally, that refining process of building a machine is the same as the one that lead to weapon making, animal breeding, etc. Even if you get rid of every machine and our knowledge of what machines are, it will always be too easy to discover that lighting a fire under a kettle will always expand into steam and can be taken advatage of. Maybe if you try to reintroduce slavery like they did with Rome, people might not feel any real need for mechanization? But then of course you definitely might have a real push toward the 'hive mind' conclusion, wouldnt you

Therr is literally, unironically, nothing wrong with "surrogate activities".

That one is probably the weakest part in his manifesto and I'm really surprised that so many places on the internet, especially IQfy, took it seriously for so long.

After reading the manifesto (instead of internet articles about it) it is undeniable that the following two questions remain unanswered:
          >what even *is* a surrogate activity?
          >why is it a bad thing to engage in surrogate activities?

Anotger surrogate activity could be having sex with a condom instead of reproducing.

i experienced this with my new dell laptop i bought. came with windows 11 home. it was awful. i went to install arch and ran into the same issue with botnet secure boot. at least dell's bios is actually pretty nice and was easy to disable but still annoying.
windows 11 itself is a massive botnet though. i don't know how or why "gamers" put up with windows anymore. i don't see how they deem it acceptable to play their games. they whine about ads, they whine over anti cheat and all that but ignore their own operating system being the biggest offender. if you use windows its pointless to run something like ublock origin.
when i lookee into all those "do this, run this" stuff to "disable windows telemetry/ ads" and all that i quickly realized it doesn't actually stop the tracking microsoft does. its simply makes it less transparent to you. they still spy on everything you do its just makes you blind to it.

Because even the stupidest idiots nowadays own a computer, they restrict everything so they won't do anything at all, that could possibly break the machine.

No, it's the absolute state of Windows.

Linux would have solved your problems just fine.

Linux IS solving my problems right now, but I fear for the younger generations who don't know how good things used to be and just accept this as normal.

    Ever wonder why
    these blatant troll
    threads that violate
    the only rule in the
    sticky are never
    deleted while the
    mod is literally in
    these threads all day
    deleting posts?

    Because the
    apple Black person mód
    is the OP posting
    from his iphone.
    He spends 20 hours
    a day of his worthless
    NEET life posting and
    babysitting these falseflag
    anti-linux anti-windows
    flamewar troll threads,
    deleting posts
    exposing him as
    the OP, and saving
    his troll threads
    from page 10 after
    every 1-4 hours
    of no bites.

The only way to purge these shit threads off IQfy is to put a bullet in his head.

Laughing at these two autists delving DEEP into some Kaczynski philosophy in my thread, and I don't mean that in a bad way - I just find it amusing that these conversations spring up out of nowhere.

You're welcome, it's all my fault. No, I'm not going to elaborate my positions on Ted's manifesto, I've said all that had to be said. That one moron who didn't even read the manifesto up until this point and thought his opinions are worth shit is not worth responding to.

do you think memorizing trivia about Ted is going to actually do you any good? Was this Ted Talk all jist to inflate some fat neet's delusion of being 'learned'? Find out next time, on DBZ

Windows leaves open very few doors

microsoft just cant help but bungle every last property that they hold, be it the xbox or the windows OS. Realistically if they wanted to make things better, they should be facilitating software sharing and consumption outside their shitass ecosystem, not limiting people to it. I say this explicitly because it's the sole reason people ever used it

    Magnet for tuning software?

It's a specific program for the piggy back ECU I bought and it only runs on windows, going to give it a go on Wine or Bottles now.

        Magnet for tuning software?

yeah he's asking for the magnet link (torrent).

I wouldn't give it too him but I'de be interested in the name?

          Anonymous

I know he's asking to download it, but like I said the software is specifically for the piggy back ecu I have (from ECUmaster) - it's only useful if you have their ECU and if you had their ECU you'd just go to their website and download it.

          Maybe I should've said "proprietary"?

Macs are bought by female e-celebs, "influencers", hipsters, basedgays, digital nomads, and wannabes. Although the proportion of all of all of those is growing
      Normies and gamers buy windows
Schizos buy windows but will switch to Linux

Oh, come on, seriously? Did you just buy a laptop with Windows pre-installed? What a rookie mistake! You might as well be throwing your money into a digital dumpster fire! Meanwhile, I'm over here, living the high life with my Linux-powered rig, custom-built for maximum awesomeness! You know, Linux isn't just an operating system, it's a way of life, a beacon of freedom in a sea of corporate conformity! But hey, if you enjoy being shackled by the chains of proprietary software, be my guest. Just don't come crying to me when your system crashes for the umpteenth time!

Normies simply do not think, they never encounter any boundaries because they never reach them in first place.
I'm pretty sure the average user does not even know the difference between an OS and a web browser.

I bought one of these laptops at Walmart today. Booted into the bios, disabled secure boot, installed Linux mint and moved on with my life. Maybe stop being a massive moron.
