The Great Lakes

Why are they so irrelevant? The New World has this lake-system which is basically an inland ocean and nothing is done with it at all? What gives?

What the frick are you talking about?
      >Chicago, Detroit, Toronto
      >Literally the heart of the American automobile industry
      >Massive amounts of industry in general
      >Home of both House and Techno
      How are they irrelevant?

      >All of them except for Superior are extremely heavily polluted by industrial waste
What the frick are they going to use them for? Euthenasia? That being said, if any coastlet frickboy wants to touch our wells of poison, I will happily journey back to my home state to fire the first shot of the civil war.

Because Canada is an unpopulated shithole, the Caribbean sea has been since the very beginning the main trading region of the continent, also the straight of Panama is there.

Deindustrialization killed a lot of the jobs there creating the Rust Belt, but even today they're still major shipping hubs.

Not needed because of this basic history concept:

The CIA's predecessor (OSS) is modeled on British Intelligence, ya know

The world is ruled by spies, not aircraft carriers

shipping inland and is key for exporting ore and goods outward
the missisippi river complex is linked to great lakes and gulf of mexico shipping, and there's reaosns why there was a push to build the Erie Canal in the early 19th century (it took 8 years and was continually expanded up until the early 20th century)

    > Does nothing
The Great lakes canal system provided the backbone for the American second industrial revolution after civil war until the end of WW2 or so.

US was the source of half of all manufactured industrial goods in 1945. There has never been an industrial nation as dominant as US was back then. Half of US industry was located in rust belt, mostly served by the lake and canal system - 25% of world's industrial production, roughly.

Why are you making a thread about something if it's irrelevant? Isn't that wasteful? You smell Californian to me.
