What's so bad about it that wasn't already so in GTK3?

        They removed theming.

No, they didn't, but most Gnome programs use something called libadwaita which hardcodes Adwaita and prevents these specific apps from being themed. GTK4 still supports themes though.

What are some GTK4 programs that don't use libadwaita? I'm curious to see how it integrates with GTK3 desktops.

Seems to work fine. I've had GTK3 apps break harder with themes.

            Surely there's a downside, no?

Frick that theme is ugly as shit. At least use the defaults or something.

How the frick do you choose the one theme that is worse than adwaita? Are you moronic?

I intentionally picked an infamous theme just to make a point, you utter moron.

If only Adwaita weren't so hideous, there would be no need for theming

No gnome apps haven't just been ported to gtk4, they have been ported to libadwaita, which should be considered it's own toolkit.

I don't think that's true, but it is true that virtually nothing besides gnome apps has bothered porting to gtk4.

The GNOME terminal is still GTK3.

It is disgusting honestly. When Files GTK4 came out and they just released it completely half assed, with scrolling bugs on folders with lots of files and without the ability to expand folders in detailed view it looked to me like they were really just on a long term beta testing phase. Before GNOME 40 things weren't amazing, but it looked more like a complete product. Now it's every version with broken extensions and shit that makes you wonder if they're really after that polished desktop experience at all or they just don't give a frick anymore.

gimp, as in the program that spawned gtk as "gimp toolkit" hasn't been ported to GTK3 yet
I don't see why anyone would pick gtk to write a GUI of any kind, unless you're writing gnomeware trash

Even if I could, people would still fricking argue and fork it.
