its called crypto tumblers/mixers. he can convert all the money to monero and then back into whatever favorite coin and then into real cash.

        >he can convert all the money to monero
how? where would you go to convert that much bitcoin into monero without signing up to a pozzed exchange that requires id?

Are tumblers even a thing? I thought they were all scams.

Even non-kyc exchanges won't touch tainted coins even for a markup. Monero atomic swaps are pretty much useless for the same reason.

Change has effectively dunked on these script kiddies because that Bitcoin is untouchable. Shoulda required them to pay in monero.

If it is possible to permanently taint BTC, then BTC has no future as a currency.
A small business cannot be expected to vet every single bitcoin they receive for their services.
What if the hacker bought a million IQfy passes?
Would the feds stop Hiro from cashing out?
You think Hiro can afford a forensic team to audit every bitcoin they receive?
It's not just the tainted BTC that's worthless in that case - but rather ALL Bitcoin will become worthless.

            >If it is possible to permanently taint BTC, then BTC has no future as a currency.
            Correct.
That's the number one reason why bitcoin is not viable as currency; it is non-fungible.
Bitcoin that is marked as having being part of an "illegal" transaction can be permanently traced and tracked by agencies, thus not all bitcoin is equal.
Monero doesn't have this problem, monero is entirely non-fungible, all monero is equal.

The mere fact that BTC can be tracked is exactly why civil servants want their own version for their a payment system

Use Bisq you dumb Black person. 99% of crypto now isn't used for laundering, it's a wealth holder.

The point of crypto at this point isn't to be anonymous anymore like SR, people capable of a ransomware attack are capable of kicking this money to Lebanon or South America where they can exchange it into cash and no one gives a shit.

Yes. The money is basically Black personlisted already. No one will touch them now in fear of meme sanctions or whatever.

The only reason they think a payment was made is btc was transferred to the address in the ransomware message (allegedly).
Impossible to verify any of it is true besides pointing to a blockchain transaction, which isn't proof of anything.
I'm sure most of these highly public ransomware stories are just money-laundering by the purported "victims".

      >money-laundering
That's what they or the ransom criminal would need to do AFTER the bitcoin transaction. Clean money becomes dirty the moment it's exchanged to bitcoin, sent to anyone else and then exchanged back to cash.

Anon, the guy you're replying to is one of the types that jumps to very convoluted "cynical" conclusions because he thinks it makes him clever.
He's saying that it's a hoax by the company itself so they can go "Oh nooooo we lost $22 mil to hackers!" and pocket the cash.

It's hardly convoluted to realize all "news" is created to elicit a reaction and that saying you were "forced" to liquidate millions of dollars and cast it into the bitcoin void for some anonymous entity. Great way to "lose" a huge amount from the balance sheets.
