this shit cured my dystrohopping

The fact that its creator is a fricking unbearable and undesirable genius makes this distro even better. Finally, I'm home.

What are the benefits of Void over Debian or Arch?

package manager is nice and makes it easy to install programs from source and treat them like they are from repo
other than that i don't know

        yay also does this

Just try to install anything from the aur that isn't a binary package

That's not what he said though, unless I understood it wrong. He said that you can install programs from source as packages without them being from a repo, the Aur is still a repo and what you download from it is packaged sources

does it have USE flags like Gentoo though?

not in the same way, but you can have and set package options that change the build

this is the most generic answer and it's pointless. all package managers are nice and make it easy to install packages. why do you tech novices keep saying bullshit like this?

homosexuals probably hear about Void and go
          >oooh xbps-src, must be like BSD ports or something
and just fall for it hook line and sinker, not realizing the distro is an Arch with none of Arch's manpower.

What are the benefits of Void over Debian or Arch?

all linux distros are shit tbh, Arch is now very normie full of gamegays because they think Arch is the new shit thanks to steamdick and #archisntall, (yea, they are late), besides systemD and all that yay aur bullshit.
Debian is the same shit just full of
        >ooooo
OoOo BOY, this shit Iisisi estaaAaBLEE LIke RoooockkC
all the people who run distros are all fricking homosexuals, some more than others, some more racist than others, etc, etc.
void linux is going its way, and that is to be appreciated in a world full of copy of the copy of the copy of the copy of the copy of the copy of the copy of the ....

Artix is same but also has option to use Arch and Arch User Repositories. If you don't like Arch based, then you should use something like Alpine or some tiny statically linked distro. What Void has that would be unique or better in any way?

So it's like Void but with garbage?

        Anonymous

Yes, if "garbage" means wider software support, more init system options including lighter and smaller ones, less bloat, easier to use, lower ram usage, closer to suckless ideology etc.

I have computers that can handle "bloat", and find systems convenient, so I use a normal Linux distro with a larger community. Also void being so pro BLM kinda turns me off. If he was more like the artix dev I'd consider it more but he's a bit of a gay.

He's more than "a bit of a gay", the guy had a conniption when some dude brought up sneedacity. He comes across as completely unhinged.

Based. It's the most BSD-like of all the Linuxes.

        >During the conflict, he threatened the other developers to make legal claims and he said about the possibility of revoking the license for the code written by him. Although in the latter it has no possibility since Void Linux is supplied under the BSD license and the license for the already open source cannot be revoked
Saved by the BSD license. If it was GPL they'd have been fricked.

    i never really understood distrohopping
i started with ubuntu 6 years ago and only this past month "moved" to mint because snap is gay
what's the impetus to change distros when the concrete differences are so small?

      Anonymous

      Autism
people who have nothing useful to do and get obsessed over small details. It's a quest to find (and later, to make) the "perfect" distro

    Thumbs up for Void.
Void and Slackware are the only distros you can take seriously, these days. The rest are barely functioning bloated cruft-loaded messes that may as well be Windows.
