First you need some long sleeved work clothes, a typical 3M auto darkening mask, leather gloves (do not wash them, if washed to not dry) and some PF50 sun screen.
As for home player, stick is better. Stick lets people build metal furniture all the time.
Mig is too professional, I would've learned TIG (I'm not a welder by trade) for my home usage and aluminum welding parts for DIY.

          aaaah cmon
          if you cant learn
it only means you havent tried enough times...
... or you didnt understand that youre actually melting the two pieces toegether when youre welding (as opposed to brazing: where you use metal as glue instead of melting two pieces toegether)

            [...]
            (cont.)
(to test if you weld right, you try to break apart the pieces you welded toegether.
if the weld breaks- you failed. bc welding is really melting two pieces toegether and the filler add material so when it breaks, its supposed to break next to, but not through the weld)

It's not that. The process is easy. But you not man enough and too much autistic to have the privilege to weld. My colleagues in work (programmers) weld and do wood working or they have a garage where they work on their cars or motorcycles but they are not virgins, they have families, they are married, they have sex and friends and so on. I feel so inadequate when I hear them and I know I'm only capable of programming and I never had and never will have sex.

and i learned on th job

i can tell you that unintuitively you want high power for thin stuff
bc when you weld youre actually heating up stuff LOCALLY
so high heat output means small heat transmission, and high local heat.
like when you weld body work.
            (not waving names around, really
its just that its what i had to do until now, helping pops repair the car...)

so yeah, dont count on me to find you a good machine
but i can tell you the principles are:
the surface the heat is applied
            the gradient/speed of the heat
and the capacity of your piece to transmit heat else where
and the lission is to bring your two pieces to fusion while trying to avoid heat going into the rest of the metal
->trying to overwhelm heat transmission capabilities locally to force heat accumulation
            if that makes sense

            >if that makes sense
It doesn't but thanks anyway. I guess I will pick up something I find at lidl (they bring some cool tools often) but I still have nothing to weld and I leave in a hole of an apartment with a small balcony and no room for storage or welding.

No, I never implied that welding isn't intellectual. I may be a turbo autist but I'm not that deluded to think that programming is intellectual. We are the real brainlets of engineering. Too stupid to pursue a PhD in mathematics and physics and too stupid and virgins to become real engineers and mechanics. I hate myself.

            >All the time but I'm insecure.
your worth is what you can do.
no one can take it from you
and you dont need anyone to do it:
            you r knowledge, capabilities
            thats your worth.

            you dont need anybody, anon.
            test your abilities instead
its the real refelction of your abilities.
            bc everyone has a bias

the way people will look at you will neve be true
the only way to know your ture worth is to constantly test it
            and in the process
            you will actually increase it

id say in the intellectual sphere: this is the way to self worth
            pushing to your limits
but when you do so you learn new skills

            its a positive feedback loop
and it gives meaning to life
push things just to see how far you can go

            you should try it anon
it helped me, and i was in dark places myself

      or is it

but wouldnt it be then an admittance of utter and irrevocable iferiority?
