VOLLMAN

Where to start with Vollman? What does his work usually entail? Someone told me if I like Celine I should check him out. Does that figure?

He's a massive pseud. Writes a lot but says very little. He also is a troon.

Vollmann cross-dresses for intellectual and artistic purposes. He has never claimed to be trans.

Isn't that worse? Transsexuals are at least suffering from profound delusions and by medicating them with antiandrogens or undergoing castration, the risk of committing sexual crimes decreases. The intellectual dress wearer on the other hand must be a total sexual deviant with no medical intervention to suppress his libidinal actions, embolden by them for (subjective) artistic and cerebral reasons.

Check his most read books on Goodreads and pick one that you like.
He's a great author and am currently reading Europe Central. It's made of parts focused on dif characters so that's neat.
Maybe you'll love his short stories, try The Rainbow Stories

He has a book of short stories with some of the stories set in Japan. They're really good. Also, he seems to love Japanese literature and really turned me on to some great Japanese lit. I advise reading his recs list.

In 2006, New Directions republished Celine's Journey to the End of the Night with an Afterword by WTV. WTV starts out his 5-page essay with the following: "Reader, frick you!" Enjoy.

Starting with WTV's books? I started with You Bright and Risen Angels when it was first published and have never looked back; been hooked on his literary career since that time. My own personal favorite works are Argall, Rising Up and Rising Down, Europe Central, Carbon Ideologies, Imperial. The rest are just as good, if not better. I hope WTV lives long enough to finish the North American Landscape series.

That afterword so bad that it put me off from ever wanting to read anything by him, absolutely nothing of substance there and it would be better off without it

He also wrote a preface for Céline, which seemed kinda bad to me. He was trying to write it in the style of Céline.

I guess Europe central or the atlas. If you really want to you could read his essay on weapons and violence (it's looooong ~3000 pages).

All you need to know about this guy is that he went to Deep Springs college.

So? What bearing does that have on his writing? Was he a nepobaby or did he get through on merit? What kind of conclusion would you like me to take from this information, anon?
