    Win98 was horrible. It would often bsod for no reason. It could not handle several software running at same time without crashing. Win2000 was so much better.
    This said, I often wish Microsoft could just die and open source Windows. No doubt some hardcore fans would make all Windows versions compatible with recent hardware, they would be like distros, and Win98 would at last be stable.

        there's a bunch of leaked code for xp and other versions, but it's not foss, it's just leaked code. you can't legally do anything with it, so nobody is going to want to spend much effort on it

    on a machine, dedicated for work, this really is the cleanest and most straight forward interface there has been.

    The way they've cluttered all the system settings in newer versions of windows, instead of the old school control panel, where everything was in one place and the interfaces were tightly packed, so you could have ton of information on screen, even at much lower resolutions than we have now, just makes sense from productivity standpoint.
